If there's one thing you can say about Kosta Koufos its that he's tough as nails and brings it every night. Willie and Skal are the ones who are lacking between the ears. This is an important point. Willie will not be able to glide around watching anymore. Skal will have to take off the tuxedo. KK will get meaner.
Bagley has intensity and it may become contagious.
Wcs was next to vlade, jaegerSo those of you who commented before yesterday, how do you feel now that you've actually seen Bagley with other Kings? To answer the initial question, I think it's pretty simple. What Bagley's arrival says to the other bigs is Put up or shut up.
I hope WCS was watching last night because there's a new kid in town that is definitely gonna put it all out there and not only earn his minutes, but make it pretty clear what hard work is all about.
Things just got a lot more interesting.
WCS has enough motivation this year.$$$!So those of you who commented before yesterday, how do you feel now that you've actually seen Bagley with other Kings? To answer the initial question, I think it's pretty simple. What Bagley's arrival says to the other bigs is Put up or shut up.

He fits well on the bench.Where does Skal fit in to this? Obviously the season has to play out but he needs to show out this season.
Skal just isn't very good. I don't understand the fascination with him.Where does Skal fit in to this? Obviously the season has to play out but he needs to show out this season.
When was the last time a complacent player has morphed into someone with the temperament of a Giles or Bagley? There may be an example out there, but it's extremely rare. A player can improve his skills much, much, much easier than a player trying to change his hunger, fire, mentality, etc.I think WCS deserves a shot to show what he can do with the new identity the big guys on this team want to have. He has the skill set to absolutely complement our two Rooks on defense around the rim and plays very high above the rim when he wants. Maybe he wants to be part of this “bruise and run” squad I saw last night. We were searching for contact, on both ends. If his mind develops a hunger like these two we just drafted, he could rip the league apart in his role. He was picked top 10, not too 5 due to his lack of that fire. If it ignites, we have 3 legit big men with a large amount of potential on both ends. No reason to get rid of him for fillers yet. If we can get a starting 3 it’s something to consider, but writing off Willie is premature, in my opinion. On a team where he doesn’t have to be our best player/new Cousins, he could thrive. Much like he did at UK...
I'm not sure where you get "fascination" from its not as if kings blogs are littered with Skal threads. He's a King though.Skal just isn't very good. I don't understand the fascination with him.
This is the argument I make as well.I would keep WCS around this season. See what playing with guys with motors like Giles and Bagley does to him, also a faster pace will play to Willie's strengths. Let him enter restricted free agency next summer and see what his value around the league is. Bigs are struggling to get paid these days and you might be able to keep Willie around as a rotation big at a nice price.
A lot of posters here talk about him like he's demonstrated great skill on the court. I just don't see it. He's even softer than WCS.I'm not sure where you get "fascination" from its not as if kings blogs are littered with Skal threads. He's a King though.

I'm thinking that ship has sailed with them apparently bringing in Dwight Howard. I liked that deal though.I'd much rather dangle him in a trade offer and see if I can get a SF like Oubre in return. No sense in missing out on pieces the team needs so they can try and sign him as a backup center. Backup centers can be had anywhere.
Giles made the comment that he likes to hit guys before he gets hit. These words would never come out of Willie's mouth. There is more of a sincerity to what he says than the eye rolling hyperbole from Willie. At the 2:45 mark he says " We hit first.....Toughness is something I am gonna bring every day, that fight, that grit.....I am never gonna let another man feel like he has the advantage over me. That's never gonna happen."I just think both Giles and Bagley puts into stark contrast what we saw from WCS last year. In particular, I saw Giles put his shoulder into Wagner a few times just for the hell of it. I don't think I've seen that from WCS in three years! A lot of times WCS seems to operate with the maxim, "I won't body up on you, so please don't body up on me."
I can see the Kings keeping Kosta. He's tough, strong, doesn't shy away from contact, plays defense within the confines of his ability, and can rebound to start the fast break. I think he would be a good complement to the athleticism of Bagley and Giles. I just don't see it with WCS.
You aren't getting Kelly Oubre for Willie Cauley Stein my friend. Hate to burst your bubble.I'd much rather dangle him in a trade offer and see if I can get a SF like Oubre in return. No sense in missing out on pieces the team needs so they can try and sign him as a backup center. Backup centers can be had anywhere.
I agree, but would they have considered if we were to take on a less than ideal contract? If we took Manhimi I don't think they hesitate. I'd prefer Smith but I don't think taking that contract is enough incentive. You aren't getting Kelly Oubre for Willie Cauley Stein my friend. Hate to burst your bubble.
I think they like Oubre better than Otto Porter so no I don't think they are giving him up.I agree, but would they have considered if we were to take on a less than ideal contract?
