Yah we've talked a few times. I row for Serra High School in San Mateo. 3rd Year (Junior). I went to Boston and Seattle this fall but I dont remember if Capital went. How's your son doing? (Erg [2k/6k] and boat).

you go to serra??

i live like 10 minutes from that school

it's a small world after all :D

Bibby_Is_Clutch - I just pm'd ya ...

Thanks for the reminder - unless it happened just yesterday, I don't remember - and sometimes even yesterday is forgotten !!!! ;)

His boat is doing pretty good .... he talks about his times and being one of the faster rowers (he's THE STROKE in his boat) ... and works really hard at it.

From some of the times/results they've had in regatta's and continued progress in their times during their workouts and practice .... one of their goals is to make Championships in Cincinnati.

Just curious .... being a Junior in high school, are you now looking into colleges with Crew/Rowing opportunities ????

Yah, Im looking into schools now. My first choice is probably the University of Washington (Huskies) and then any schools in Mass. I will apply to some UC's but its so competative that its almost not worth it. I want to go to UCLA but they have crew as a club sport. My other choice would be UC Santa Barbara.

As you probably know Serra isnt the best and our head coach is far from decent but we try to do what we can. It just seems like we cant get a Varsity 8 together that is big enough height wise and strength. This year we should be a lot better but we will see. Hopefully our JV is good again. For my size I am the best Junior on the erg (there is one guy 2-3in taller and 40pds heavier than me that pulls 20-30 sec better) and slightly the best on the water. Only problem is our coach doesnt set lineups based on how good you are; its what you do for the team and how much she likes you (donate money, team mom, drive the trailer, etc) and besides the fundraisers I dont do any of the other stuff. Once the spring season starts and we start testing/racing I'll try and email your son. I just try to focus on the erg and school because thats what will help get me into college. -BIC
