For me, Kings is my number 1 team for years now, but because I was born in a small European country (Latvia) who has only 2 active NBA players right now (Porzingis- New York Knicks, Davis Bertans- San Antonio Spurs). I'm rooting for them in the Regular Season and especially in the playoffs, right now because the Spurs are in the playoffs they are my favorite team to root for, I hope they win it all even when it's even not that likely because of the GSW.
I have personal story about this Davis Bertans guy from the Spurs, when he was playing in Slovenia, I was living there for a while and we became friends there, because there was not a lot of fellow Latvians at that time in Slovenia and I personally did not run into any other Latvian before there, while I was living there almost all 2010... so it was funny how I met him, I was eating in the restaurant and he came in, I recognised him, so I just wanted to approach him and talk a little bit, get signature and wish him good luck, when I approached him and started to talk in Latvian language with him he was very surprised, because he was new guy there only 18 years old at that time when he got there and he did not meet any other Latvian there, so after we talked a little bit, he asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with him after his practices, because he did not know a lot of people and he had language problems there at the beginning, so for quite some time we were going to the same restaurant for few months, because then I had to leave Slovenia to live in Malta later, but we stayed in contact after those Slovenia days and it was awesome experience and I'm really proud of him... I still remember that night in the June of 2011, when he was drafted I texted him to congratulate him, I was really excited about him and he texted me back, he thanked me because I helped him at the beginning of his journey when he was kinda alone there, because it was his first Pro team outside of Latvia and at least I was there when he did not know the language and did not have a lot of friends back then.
But the biggest surprise was last November when he for my birthday send me a gift, his Spurs jersey with Number 42... even we were not in touch anymore like before, but he still remembered me and I almost had tears in the eyes after I got that jersey, because I still remember him as this skinny, 6'8'' 6'9'' 18-year-old kid scared coming in the restaurant in Slovenia and now to look at him 6 years later, he is living a dream playing as a player for the Spurs, playing under coach Popovich and playing with legends like Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker... his road to the NBA was not easy he had two torn ACL injuries in Europe, but he has worked hard... very hard.
So at the end of the day, I root for the Spurs this playoffs, because I have my reasons, but still, the Kings are my number one team, forever and FOREVER.
