To borrow the lyrics from one of my favorite songs.
Wow. It's been an interesting 48 hours, fellow Kings fans.
Disbelief, anger, blind rage, more disbelief, sorrow, tears, etc. Those were just part of the range of emotions for some of us. Others were cautiously optimistic right from the start and still others applauded the actions.
We have turned a corner. The team we see the rest of this year and in the future is going to be a different team, with different players, different plays, different focus, etc.
One thing that HASN'T changed, however, is the name on the front. It's still SACRAMENTO KINGS!!!!
Others have made posts throughout the past couple of days that have probably said a lot of the same things I'm saying here, but I guess I'm just trying to summarize them for a lot of us so we can start moving forward again.
I was one who was deeply shocked, saddened, etc. I didn't want to accept that it was, in fact, the end of an era. The end of a time that started back in 1999. I'm silly that way, I suppose. I do resist change.
Having thought about this for the past two days and talked with a LOT of people on and off the board, I realized that deep in my heart I couldn't second guess Geoff Petrie and/or the Maloofs. I simply don't have the information available to me that they have.
There's been a lot of talk and analysis in the media, both local and national, about this trade. Is it good? Is it bad? Will it help? Will it hurt?
What I KNOW for sure is that it is a change. What was before will not ever be again. I'll treasure all the memories of the good times under that era and I'll also remember the bad times, because there were both.
I hope I speak for a lot of you when I say it's time now to let go, to look forward and to remember that we are still fans of the SACRAMENTO KINGS. That didn't change, or at least I hope it didn't change.
I said a couple of days ago that I didn't think I'd be able to do the PBP tomorrow. Well, I will do it. I may have to stop every once in a while, but life goes on. So does this team and so does my love for it.
We are KINGSFANS!!!! And that's something to be pretty blasted proud of!!!
GO KINGS!!!!!
