Petrie has a stellar track record drafting players. It's ridiculous to compare him to I. Thomas or to Matt Millen. Therefore, you're argument has no basis whatsoever. Anybody that has Petrie's track record deserves the benefit of the doubt and some respect, not the total lack of respect that it's getting from some on this board. Petrie and his staff had more information at their disposal on these players than ALL of this board collectively. They saw hundreds of hours of tape, saw their games in person, interviewed them personally, interviewed those who knew them, saw all of their private workouts, and did background checks on them. Sure, fans can disagree, and some fans might be right in their disagreement, but they should at least show some respect for the general manager's ability to draft players. He deserves it.

i don't think the guy you're quoting compared petrie directly; he was just saying that the GM position is not infallible. i personally think petrie is an average GM, who has helped steer this franchise to a title contender and now to the cellar of the NBA.

the GM job is a public one; it doesn't merit any more or less respect than any other job. besides, from most of what i see on this board, people criticize the moves, not petrie himself, and even when it's targeted at petrie it's criticism, not savage bashing.

jerryaki is correct. if you read the bolded part of the quote, i was referring to the post saying that gms/owners always know whats best for the team and fans shouldnt complain. my argument is that not all gms always know whats best and listed examples. i never said that petrie was as crappy as the other gms listed. never in the post did i say petrie didnt know what he was doing or wasnt any good, i said i was disappointed in not getting rubio, but evans was my second choice so i wasnt all that disappointed. in fact i said i dont agree with all the people who want petries head. i was just stating fans have a right to voice their opinion if they disagree.
