Welcome to the playoff bracket

Tonight is worthy of two 'Any questions" so I'll forgive you for stealing my thunder...

Hey now, we still got 19 games left to blow it, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Also, for those who care, its 18-1 to get back to that 50 win plateau again...

Getting soft in your old age there VF :p

Besides...I wasn't stealing your thunder...only borrowing some!

Hey, I was finishing the PBP thread. You came along and sneaked this one in.

;)

but will the hornets or jazz pass the lakers? they have tough schedules coming up.....

I was just thinking that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel more optimistic about this team that's fighting to get in and stay in the playoffs, than the last 2 50 win teams that backed into their playoff spot.

ah, but that was then, and this is now. Back then, we'd worry about things like getting first seed, or securing home court advantage. I miss those days, and that team, but, hey, right now, today I am just happy that the playoffs could happen.

The beginning of this season was very humbling for me as a Kings fan. Forget not being elite, but being bottom of the barrel is tough to swallow. Now, well, we're downright respectible. We aren't a contender, but, well, we don't flat out suck anymore, and right now, for this season, that's enough for me.

That team wouldn't of gone on the 4-1 road trip, beat a tough Memphis team the 1st game back from a road trip, and then beat the #1 seed in the West team.

come back player of the year: RON RON, man i love having him. Im sure everyone feels the same way. Hes like a general out there. Having him and bibby makes me smile just thinking about it. I love it seriously. Im so happy we got him. ah man. its great. Basking in the ambiance. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. feels nice to be in the top 8

I know every one is excited to see the Kings currently bracketed for the Play Offs. What pleases me most is not necessarly suddenly being bracketed, but the WAY this team has been playing to get there. Perfect, of course not, but the tough D, improved rebounding, and jsut tenacious play, never quiting, closing out games, blowing out weaker oponents... all signs not of good teams but very good teams! Even if the Kings did not make the PO's or get bounced by the Spurs in round one, I am just dam pleased with the way the team is playing and have little comlaint right now.:D

Word. This is exactly how I feel HndsmCelt, except obviously you present it much better than me, save for all d'em typos.;)

no kidding....wonder what brought on the sudden change??? ;) ;):D :D

anyway, i somehow think the kings will avoid getting the 8th spot....if the spurs get the 1 spot that would probably be a good thing....outside of the spurs, the kings arent exactly doomed...i dont think dallas or phoenix should scare the kings....

it would be wonderful if the kings could get the 6th spot and a chance to play denver, however, given memphis schedule that seems highly unlikely....so it looks like its 7, or at worst 8....and i would think anything but a first round spurs matchup would be very interesting....

My roommate- before this year started said Ron Artest was going to be league MVP...i thought he was full of **** to be perfectly honest.

Dont get me wrong- its not going to happen. David Stern would rather monkeys fly out of his ***. But if hypothetically the kings somehow make a push deep into the playoffs, i mean like WCF (HYPOTHETICALLY, dont give me this..we just barely got into the hunt nonsense) he deserves it...

he came to a team 8 games under 500...the last placed team in the Western conference, fresh off a loss to the blazers, and pushed them to a 14-5 record with him..moving them into playoff position, and getting the team hungry for more.

Not to mention, his mere presence affected thousands of people to love their kings again, with that same flair that used to be there. He in a sense rejuvinated a slowly dying blood thirsty fan base. The heart was still beating, just not as strong

Thats what RON ARTEST did...i dont care if you want to give adelman credit, fine...ill put it this way..that 18-26 team is still here, exactly the way it was. With one change, Ron Artest

If he starts to be the same Ron we know, causing trouble next year, fine. But this year from his tenure with the kings..hes making an excellent case

This is coming from a person who was against the Peja for Artest trade. VF21...if you got some extra crow..im starving over here.

I cannot wait for Cisco to get back and we can really light up teams down the stretch. Let's kick some Laker butt Tuesday on our court. :D

It's so nice to see us over 500 and to have a # next to out names in the rankings. I think we can realisticly get into the 6th spot. It would be nice to face the Nuggets in the 1st round and roll right by them with momentum into the 2nd round where we give Dallas, SA, or other elite teams some hell.

standings:

The Laker game Tuesday takes even more significants with the us getting a 1/2 game lead on the Lakers and vault into the 7th spot. How did we get so good all of a sudden???? What I especially like is that we are winning even when we are not shooting that good and our key guys like Brad and Mike aren't having good games....we also spread it around and get points from everyone and our bench is nice and strong now especially once Cisco is back. I'm loving it.

yup....

though to be fair, the kings were 18-24 when the trade was made....and the kings lost their first two games with ron...though a case could be made for ron being out of game shape and very unfamiliar with what was going on....

nevertheless, theyre still 14-7 with ron, even counting those first 2 losses....

and all they effectivey did was get rid of peja and skinner....and add ron....and they go from an 18-24 team to a 14-7 team....

the kings fan deserve it...

and so does ron....

and the maloofs deserve to be applauded for making it happen...

cause without them, it never happens....and the kings are probably 27-36, buried in the lottery, adelman gone, people calling for petries head, and most discussions revolving around the draft and some hopeless dream scenario of trying to get KG in the offseason....

Yea- the first 2 were chaos things were still getting decided, people/ideas were settling in, they didnt get counted.

Everyone deserved this. For once, the maloofs applying pressure may have paid off. Besides the WCF, to be honest i have never been so excited to be a kings fan. Im a 21 year old college junior..skipping the usual spring break festivities to go see the kings vs sonics/golden state...my friends are questioning me lol..saying im not nearly as much of an alchoholic as i should be at my age..

...hell after this game tonight..beer didnt calm me down...i had to dabble into the hennessey

I think we can get to the sixth spot, but I don't think Memphis will falter. Memphis has an easy schedule the rest of the way, and can overtake the Clippers. I think we can also overtake the Clips in the standings. We still have 2 more meetings with them, and the Clips have a very tough schedule remaining. 2 games against Dallas, 2 against Memphis, 2 against Phoenix, 1 with the Spurs just to name a few. 11 road games and 10 home left for them. We are currently 5 games back of them, but it is not too unrealistic.

I was looking at our schedule and noticed that this is our first 4 game win streak of the season.  Let's keep this thing going.

i just dont see the kings catching memphis or the clippers....as mentioned the grizz have a relatively easy schedule....and while the clipps might not have an easy schedule...neither do the kings....in fact the kings schedule is pretty brutal....just no way they make up 5 games on the clipps....it would be wonderful, just highly unlikely....7 or 8 seems quite likely....and 7 would definitely be the better of the 2....it would most likely mean a matchup with the suns, and if fortunate enuff to win that, then a matchup with the 3 or 6 seed...

7 is the magic spot....

I agree that comparatively, our schedule is much more brutual than the Grizz, but you also have to take into account momentum, confidence and other intangible factors. Memphis has been playing highly inconsistently lately, they are 8-11 since Feb. Here's what their schedule looks like:

Mar 14Bos- Celtics are playing well as of late. Won’t be easy.
Mar 17Den- Not easy
Mar 19Utah- Should be a win for the Grizz
Mar 21IND- Hopefully, your team can help us out here foretaz
Mar 23LAC - Won’t be easy
Mar 24@NY- Should be an easy win for the Grizz, back to back though
Mar 26Char- Should be an easy win for the Grizz
Mar 28Sea- Sonics starting to play well, but Grizz take this one
Mar 29@NJ- Grizz should win, but again not an easy one, considering the back to back.
Mar 31@NO- Grizz should win
Apr 2Atl- Grizz should win
Apr 4GS- Grizz should win
Apr 7Mil- Grizz should win
Apr 9@SA- Grizz should lose
Apr 11Min- Grizz should win, but not an easy one
Apr 12@Char- Grizz should win
Apr 15@Hou- Without Tmac, Grizz should win
Apr 18LAC- Won’t be easy
Apr 19@Min Back to Back, Grizz lose

I just was thinking about our 14-7 post-trade, which over the course of an entire season, makes for roughly 55 wins. That would have put us at a 5th seed in the West right now. Interesting.
