I'm not crazy about this signing, seems like a slight overpay, but I hope I'm wrong.
I'd have preferred the dude who took his starting spot in Memphis JaMychal Green who's much better defensively.
There's no doubt that Zach has all sorts of 'old man tricks' up his sleeve to impart on the young bigs though. I think his mentorship will be especially beneficial for Harry Giles who's got the agility body control and hand eye coordination to really pick up a lot of his moves.

Well that takes care of down low in the post. Perfect for key minutes against some teams, some crunch time 4th quarters, but not all. Good vet signing.

Zbo is a winner! He is used to winning. I love this signing along with another winner George Hill.

What a nice group of Zach , Hill, Kosta and Temple to bring our young guys along. The Zach deal is only two years; there's absolutely no reason to be concerned about overpaying, as the length of the contract is so much more important. It's pretty evident that the Kings are not weighed down anymore by their bad rep of years gone by. Divac and Co. are doing an excellent job!

I don't really get it. Yes he is familiar with Joerger and from a mentality standpoint he might be a great role model. But signing guys solely out of mentality reasons?
When it comes to actually playing the game Zbo doesn't have a lot to teach our young bigs, because none of them is and none of them ever will be a heavy weight. This of course excludes Papa, but with Zbo on the roster there is only the 3rd center spot open for Papa, unless we trade KK. And because him and Zbo won't be a good duo, his minutes will be pretty low this season. Now Papa is still young, but usually the NBA is not a place for slow learners. Guys like Archie Goodwin come to mind, who came in as prospects, didn't get much playing time and were quickly forgotten once the next shiny new toy in term of the new rookies came in.
Papa did play solid late last season, so I don't understand, why we feel the need to cut his actual minutes short.
But whatever. Zbo is a guy I love watching. So welcome to SAC.

I'm almost ready to forgive him for how he handled the DMC trade. I never had a problem with what he got for DMC, but he handled the trade poorly. He also paid too high of a price in the Philly trade to clear space to sign a few vets (although at the time, I was thrilled to unload JT, Landry and Stauskas). But all those sins can (almost) now be forgiven with everything else that Vlade has done, including two stellar drafts, a great coach, some nice signings, and a stable and competent front office. Perhaps his most significant accomplishment has been to remove Vivek from public view. That had to happen for the Kings to emerge from the morass of the NBA.

One of my favourite players... i think he is great addition for our young guys. I guess his playing time won't be over 15,20 minutes which leaves Skal a lot of space...

He has a lot to teach any young big about working around the basket and physical and mental toughness. The kids will earn their minutes or they won't. But you don't worry about cutting someone's minutes down a bit if they can't earn them in practice or limited game time.
There is still a lot of time left in FA. One or more guys could be gone and the logjam disappears.

I don't think any of the frontcourt guys get traded. I know it unpopular opinion around here but there is a good chance that Giles and Papagiannis start the season off in Reno and get more NBA minutes in the 2nd half of the season (when possibly Kosta gets traded and Papa is ready to assume more responsibility with regular minutes).
On the wings, I suspect Temple, a more beefed up Richardson will see a lot of minutes at SF and some spot minutes from Bogdan.

Green didn't "take" his starting gig. At no point did Green outplay Z-Bo to earn that spot and eventually in the Playoffs...Fizdale had to re-insert Randolph in the starting lineup because under the microscope of postseason basketball..you can't justify starting Green over Z-Bo when the Spurs are killing them from the jump and then not as bad when Z-Bo comes in.
It was pretty much understood that Z-Bo was moved to the bench because Memphis was thin off the bench and they felt Z-Bo can still be Z-Bo as a reserve while starting would open up more for Green. Also an effort to limit Z-Bo's minutes due to his advancing age. Randolph was still on the floor at the end of games and had better production in a few less minutes than Green. Come playoff time Randolph had basically gone back to prime Z-Bo minutes and Green was playing reserve minutes. A common play trying to get the most out of all the talent. Similar philosophy is why Ginobili was a reserve most of his career. He's the same guy off the bench and you might get more out of the starting SG then you would off the bench(Stephen Jackson, Danny Green).
Green is a more ideal defender against the stretch 4 trend but Zach is no liability. He nearly averaged 14-10 off the bench last year, and I hope that's his role with the Kings next season and Willie Cauley Stein starts. I don't disagree with Fizdales move but to suggest he "lost" his job to Green seems disingenuous.

ZBo can still play limited minutes. He helps with rebounding and toughness, and he added a 3pt shot last year.
It will be funny watching all the local press that threw mountains of hate at Cousins suddenly embrace ZBo for being a nice community guy who mean mugs it on the court.

ZBo may mean mug it but at this stage in his career he doesn't pick up techs or cuss at his team mates multiple times during the game. Or at reporters in the locker room. Or quit on plays because he's busy arguing with the ref. Or get himself thrown out because he's frustrated. You get the idea.

ZBo has come a long way since his Jailblazer days. Memphis fans are genuinely tore up about losing him. Not only for what he brings on the court, but for the good guy he has become in the community over his time in Memphis. He is seriously a great example of knucklehead reform.
Aside from his plethora of big man knowledge he can pass on, his career 180 will also no doubt have lessons about professionalism to impart.
