It's a new year, and the old weather update has too many pages.

Currently, January 10 at 1500 hours, it is 44.8 degrees Fahrenheit in the holler. Last night the low was 39.9 F, quite warm for this time of year. We received 0.5 inches of gentle rain last night.

Precipitation totals in Placerville, CA this season are:

September 2004 = 0.65 inch
October 2004 = 4.30 inches
November 2004 = 3.60 inches
December 2004 = 8.6 inches
January 2005 (so far) = 7.0+ inches

Total annual precipitation around here is 35 to 40 inches.

There has been no snow below 2,300 feet elevation since about March 2003. No significant runoff at my place this year despite the rain. The flow through the bistro is estimated to be about 3 gpm.

I have things to do. It can stop anytime now.

I have between two and three feet of snow on the ground, which is quickly being changed into runoff by a gentle yet persistent rain. The temperature outside is a balmy 34 degrees.

I received another storm warning but it appears most of the actual snow will be above my elevation for a change.

I'm just glad I don't have to wade out and clean off the satellite dish.
