I'm going to have to come out of the closet, and make a confession that I may end up regretting.. I don't mind the Lakers. I'm a Kings fan first and foremost, and I understand the anti-Lakers history and culture that is supposed to come along with it. I think Kobe is the best to ever play and I find the Ron-Ron and the rest of the team sympathetic. I can't stand Oklahoma City or San Antonio.. the series is tough to call, but staying with my original prediction that the Lakers will win the Western Conference - Lakers in 7.. will be an epic series

BEFORE all that stuff happened around 2001-2002... I'm kinda with you. In fact, before the Kings came to town, I was a Lakers fan as a kid. Magic Johnson and all that. I didn't even hate the Lakers when the Kings first came to town... and honestly there wasn't much of a rivalry, but it all started when the Kings first got good.

Ever since the League stole the championship from the Kings and handed it to the Lakers there has been an imbalance in the universe. Until that imbalance is corrected, and we get revenge, I will always enjoy seeing them lose, and hopefully get embarrased. Other than that, I can kind of get where you're coming from. I don't mind the old Lakers... all class really. Kareem was one of the classiest players to ever play. Micheal Cooper best role player of all time. The Kobe era Lakers make me want to barf.

Be sure and add your vote to the poll.

I would like to see them do it in fewer games, but....Durant drains a series clincher over Kobe in game 7, with time running out, and in overtime...

I hate LA. Always have, always will. The entire population could vanish in a single poof and I wouldn't give a single damn. Therefore, I would like to see bad things happen to the Lakers. OKC wins in three games (LA forfeits the rest of the series after RonRon goes on a murderous rampage in the Lakers locker room and guns down Benedict Arnold).

I'm guessing you're talking about Mattie Barnes? I don't blame him. It's not like the Lakers were his first or second or third choice. I like the rest of your scenario, though. :)

I understand your point Hammer, I think some of that balance might be paid by the fact that the Lakers organization, and their sway in Southern California and the league, could well be what keeps the Magoofs out of Anaheim

and World Peace craziness continues....

Instead, the moving-forward process began as a great victory for the pregame hype, what with World Peace being asked about his reception in Oklahoma City.

"That’s not my concern," he said. "That’s their concern. In America, there’s freedom of speech. ... We’re playing basketball."

Would he be shaking hands with the opposition before the game?

"I shake everybody’s hand before the game," said World Peace, who then remembered that the Thunder are not given to such pregame niceties as handshakes.

What about the Sixth Man of the Year? asked Los Angeles Times’ Bill Plaschke. Would he seek out James Harden before the festivities?

"I don’t shake substitutes’ hands," he said.

Perhaps he'd make an exception this time? Would it be too much to grant this act of contrition?

"I never did it in my life."

There you have it, World Peace’s version of moving forward, or, put another way, still crazy after all these years.

Same here.

In my mind, not one bit.

That's just the luck of the draw combined with the Lakers protecting their own ***. That has nothing to do with the league cheating us out of a championship.

Likely if we'd won the championship, this arena stuff would have been solved long ago anyway.

Although I admit to preferring to see a Spurs-Lakers final, I think the Thunder can and will keep that from happening.

As we have seen in previous seasons' playoff discussions, VF's particular brand of psychosis involves her getting the most pleasure out of seeing the lakers fail at the highest level. I am not burdened with that particular handicap: the lakers losing in the first round suits me just as well. In fact, I would much rather see the lakers lose sooner than later, because in order for the lakers to lose in the WCF, it requires that the gd lakers get to the WCF. Which means that they would have to beat two less disgusting, less nauseating teams than they are, which are, at last count, every other team in the entire league. My preferred scenario involves the lakers losing the last game of the regular season, and it causing them to go from winning the division, and home court in the first round, to out of the playoffs.

I hope that the "Thunder" sweep the lakers, and then I hope that the Spurs sweep the "Thunder," because the only thing Clay Bennett deserves is to die, publically and painfully, of a social disease.

I agree with this, but I would rather have the Lakers not even be in contention to be in the PO at the end of the season. Still, the point stands. And I do like the Thunder (I can separate Clay from the equation like I can separate the Maloofs from the Kings).

Well, then, you're a bigger man than I am. I also cannot separate the "Thunder" from "Thunder" fans, whose general attitude seems to be somewhere along the lines of "**** Seattle. We got ours!"

You know me too well. ;)

I have to admit to getting a perverse pleasure right now from two things:

1. Derek Fisher showing his former team that he's not done yet.

2. Metta World Peace taking ill-advised pull-up threes and getting such a friendly reaction from the OKC crowd.

Anybody want to hazard a guess on how long before the Lakers start playing dirty? Specifically, Matt Barnes and Andrew Bynum...with the eternal possibility of Metta Ron-Ron TruWarier World Peace getting into the mix.

Honestly? I don't see it happening until the very end of an elimination game, when Barnes, Bynum, and MWP come to their senses and figure out they are about to be sent home packing. I don't see Kobe allowing the team to get dirty and physical because of what happened due to MWP elbowing Harden, especially if he (Bryant) thinks he can lead his team to victory over the Thunder...Don't think KB would want a key member of his supporting cast to sit through a few potential Conference Finals games...

I think you're giving the brave little soldier way too much power over his team. If Bynum starts feeling frustrated, if Mattie starts to feed off that frustration, and if the Laker bigs cannot deliver, I suspect it could be much, much sooner.

The Lakers are being schooled right now, with a team piloted by the very point guard they dumped in favor of Sessions. I'm pretty sure Derek Fisher has written a tutorial for the Thunder about all the short-comings and fuses of the Lakers. And I know Fisher himself knows exactly how to push Kobe's buttons. Mike Brown is not Phil Jackson. It just seems to me we're approaching a perfect storm situation... what with all that thunder and all. :p

If I'm a Thunder fan, I'm starting to get really nervous about MWP. Especially after seeing that foul on Harden.

If the Fake Slow team that showed up to play tonight shows up to play the rest of the games during this series, Kobe will not be seeing Durant in game 5. Nor will he see KD in games 6 or 7.

I'd like to echo every sentiment expressed in this post, including the Spurs sweeping the Thunder next round, for the exact reasons stated. very well put!

The Lakers got THUNDERSTRUCK. Got to love it. Lots of stunned Lakers fans down here.

:D:D

Love it. Enjoy it, you deserve it!

And I want full, graphic reports as the beating continues. Detailed descriptions of their facial expressions. Become a poet on the subject if you must. If you can get video of sad and confused Laker fans, even better. Don't let me down. I need this.
