He did choose to be a second banana rather than be the man. There was a time before ring culture, where players would view that as giving up. When being traded meant the player wasn't a franchise player.
We could offer DDR straight up and they'd open up a ton of space either opting out next year or keeping him one year and letting him expire, they seem to be setting up for the 27 free agent off-season which is a big reason for why they do not want Monk. When Kuminga resigns what would the offers look like at the deadline? I assume it would be between us, Chicago, and Brooklyn

Yes i can blame him, actually. The timing was horrid. Period. You can’t blame Fox. Kings weren’t going to max him but sure did. Fox made the right choice imo. You would have done the same.
Would need to wait four months to do Deebo as the salaries are too far apart under BYC rules. If they don’t want monk then take Derozan this isn’t complicated. I really hope that we’re not incompetent enough to give up an unprotected pick for an unproven guy who’s about to walk from them

All that said I do wonder what deals are out there for Deebo if we secure Kuminga for Monk. Word is Monk would be shipped elsewhere so GS can continue their pipedream of luring a massive FA haul in 27. I honestly have no friggin clue what they think is going to happen? Especially when they aren't the only team with this idea and the others aren't currently circlejerking a RFA they've made clear is not part of their future.Makes sense

I’m ok with loosening the protections, just make it top 4 protected. Kuminga is a top ten pick talent so I think that’s fair risk for both sides. Unprotected would be tough given the 31 situation.
Unprotected in the 2027 draft is honestly not worth all that much so if that’s what the Warriors are asking for, I’d do it.Unprotected is a no go shouldn’t even be entertained top 4 protected is fine since he’d be on a decent contract and he’s only 22 which is crazy.

I had not heard that. There is not a lot of time to make a second trade happen before the regular season starts, and it would be disruptive once the season started. In any case, not to wait and see how Malik performs alongside Curry would be asinine.Word is Monk would be shipped elsewhere so GS can continue their pipedream of luring a massive FA haul in 27.

Perhaps a three-way trade with Houston would make sense, but that is beyond my ken.
That is pretty much his prospective role on the 2025-26 Kings. His chemistry with Sabonis sometimes looks like wizardry. The Billy Beane move to make here would be to sign De'Anthony Melton and then immediately call Golden State back and tell them Melton is off the market but Malik Monk is still available. The Warriors seem (foolishly?) to still be believers in Buddy Buckets as their floor spacer so I don't know how desperate they are for another SG who isn't known as a plus defender. Monk would be backup PG insurance though in the likely event that Steph Curry has to miss a big chunk of games.
It's a major part of why they want the option in Year 3, if they somehow can't move him they want to cut him so they can have a crack at whoever it is they think they can get.I had not heard that. Is 2027 projected to be that bad, or just 2019 coming off of 2017 and 2018? I have no doubt in a year and a half they'll have found a Zion to hype.Unprotected in the 2027 draft is honestly not worth all that much so if that’s what the Warriors are asking for, I’d do it.

Is Kuminga really such a better all-around player than Isaac Jones? Here are their stats from last season, with Kuminga first:
FG% 45.4; 64.6
3P% .305; .375
TS% .535; .638
RB per 36 6.8; 6.8
Blocks per 36 .7; 1.2
Assists per 36 3.3; 1.4
Points per 36 22.6; 15.9
Games 47; 40 (Jones had to sit out a few games due to his two-way contract)

Good point, I missed that.Jones is 25 and has made a total of 3 three-point jumpers so far in his NBA career so that .375 3pt% you quoted is pretty misleading.
Well credit to Kuminga for "standing on business" lol he really is over them as an organization
especially with them losing Fred now this yearWonder what if anything Houston could put together for Monk and if we have entertained that in a way to get Golden State to flinch?
