Vlade Interview with David Aldridge 6/15/15

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
I didn't know how to introduce this, since Aldridge anymore just lumps all of his prose into these enormous 20,000 word multipage epics including discussions of this team, that team, an interview, some power rankings and just whatever.

Anyway, about 3/4 of the way down in this one he interviews Vlade. Some stuff about the front office, he doubles down on not trading Cousins, big man vs. shooting, style of play etc. :

I HATE to read DA's writing... it's like digging through a pile of cow crap to find the watch it swallowed. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it is still valuable and even when broken looks correct depending on when you read it. That being said there were some decent insight into Vladie's vision/philosophy.

Thanks for posting this - I found it pretty refreshing. After all the confusion we have had to deal with from our Front Office, I particularly enjoyed reading this, "I'm in charge right now and I'll make decisions, but I want to make sure that we're on the same page and working for the same thing."

He may be inexperienced, but as a fan I feel I am on solid ground with Vlade - as opposed to all the quick sand the past regime created!

With all this talk about Vlade being a good evaluator of talent I don't understand how he doesn't recognize that Michael Jordan isn't really that good anymore.

But I saw somewhere where MJ said at age 52 he could take one-on-one at least half his Charlotte roster and smoke them like smokes his fine Cuban cigars. Probably true! But that makes him maybe only worth 2nd round draft pick and Kings don't have one this time - so MJ trade a no go:)

again....Divac says all the right things you want to hear and doesn't sugar coat anything. I look forward to see what he does this off season and what type of player he likes going into the draft.

I don't like DA. His writing style is deplorable. That said, methinks somewhere early on in the Vivek-Vlade relationship Vivek asked the Vdogg about Cousins and Vlade made it known that he saw Big Cuzz as a franchise cornerstone and would love to build around him, and I think that is the attitude we are seeing. I honestly think Karl has to get on board with Vlade because Vlade has his chips all in on Cuz. If Vlade is calling the shots and he is all in on Cuz then Karl needs to get on board before he is replaced. My .02 cents...future hall of fame coach be damned, Vlade ain't no punk and this is his team. The way Vlade is, he will love his team, and stand by them to the point where the players know where they stand with him. His line of communication will remain open with them and he will hear what they says. I honestly think this hire will be the one we all look upon as the turning point.

"I like sharing the ball. Basketball is a team game. ... I don't like those East Coast types that slow down and you've got the one guy with the ball and two waiting around the corner like something's going to happen."

– Kings executive Vlade Divac, on how he wants Sacramento to play

Well that's interesting

It's good to see the FO going in one direction, at least. I'll put it on them to produce results with whatever basketball philosophy they adhere to. Depending on the results, you may or may not hear me clamoring for a post-up heavy offense. I hope whatever they do works, but I'll say this: don't fix what isn't broke.

He mentioned Golden State and doesn't like to slow the game down too much. Better keep the pitchforks close....;)

Don't worry they're all resting on everyones desk, If we take more than 4 three's in the first game of the season we'll be calling for a new GM.

Whats Mike Bibby up to?
