I haven't done one in a while, so here's another selection of sites from my favorites list...
1. Are you a fan of "Bones"? Do you have kids who might be needing a topic for a report? This site, called the eSkeletons Project, is "devoted to the study of human and primate comparative anatomy." In other words, it's all about bones ... and muscles and joints. http://www.eskeletons.org/
2. We've all heard the quotaton about "famous last words." Well, this site has real last words - lots and lots of them. And there are famous wills, epitaphs, obituaries and more. For example, do you know what is written on Mel Blanc's tombstone? It's "That's All Folks"... http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/6537/epitaphs-a.htm
3. We're all familiar with the works of inventors. Guys like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, etc. Their inventions have made our lives much easier. But not all inventions make quite the same splash. Visit this site and find some of the stuff that people thought would revolutionize our lives. http://totallyabsurd.com/index.htm
4. The best way to describe this next site is to quote what they say about themselves:
5. There are lots of time/date sites out there but this one I keep flagged because it also has a lot of interesting stuff like "date calculators." Check it out... http://www.timeanddate.com/
6. We've heard of cliches. We all use them. But do you have any idea how many of them there are out there? And where they originated? This site is as easy as pie to navigate. Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Check it out. http://www.clichesite.com/index.asp
7. At the other end of the word spectrum is this site. It's devoted to recently coined words and phrases. New words and phrases are entering our language every day. Read some of these and you'll wonder why. http://www.wordspy.com/index.asp
8. If the last two sites freaked you out, you just might be a victim of verbophobia, the fear of words. This site is all about fears - it's pretty much everything (and more) you wanted or needed to know about phobias. http://phobialist.com/
9. With so many millions of sites on the Internet, it's often hard to find a place to get started when you're trying to find information about a specific topic. This spot is one of my favorites and it always gives me a great place to start if I don't want to wade through tons of listings at Google. http://www.libraryspot.com/
10. If you're interested in mythology, you're gonna love this next site. It's a a comprehensive guide to the gods, spirits, fabulous creatures and monsters of ancient Greek mythology. There are over 1000 pages. You can spend a lot of time just getting to know all the nooks and crannies of this site. http://www.theoi.com/
11. I love old classic movies. This is one of the best sites I've seen devoted to the classic actors, actresses and films of the silver screen. http://www.reelclassics.com/index.html
Enjoy!
