Just think of it this way, it's the same thing as if the Spurs had won by 20. Or 10. Or 1 (though that would have been kinda devastating).
The worst part about using the point spread is teams will play the very end of the bench in the last game if they are out of contention. That gives the teams still in a chance at a blow out.
