UPDATED: Va. Beach mayor sketches out proposed arena deal

... the Maloofs clearly don't want to be here and are just buying time, but that he doesn't think the league would stop a move.

I've said this all along. Our only hope is to stop buying them time with our money and support. Starve them out before they find a deal elsewhere so they'll be forced to sell.

NOT A PENNY TO THE MALOOFS!!!!

The arena deal is on the table from the city STILL. It ain't happening. They (Ms) know this market is scorched. Doesn't matter where they go

This market isn't scorched by any means. Sign on the dotted line for the arena deal on the table, and the fans will come back, even with the unholy trinity still owning the team.

If the Kings relocate to Virginia Beach, so will I. Although, I am relieved that the chatter is concentrated on a location whose chances of acquiring the team I have no respect for, as it means danger is not directly imminent yet, at least in my mind.

What the hell is you guys' issue with Hampton Roads? Some of my favorite people live in Hampton Roads: I've spent most of my adult life there, and plan to move back, as soon as I can. My son was born and raised there (lived the first year of his life in VA Beach, in fact). Quit knocking my burg: stop taking it out on us that the Maloofs are carpetbagging liars.

Oh good grief, Slim. It's not about Hampton Roads, which most of us know nothing about. It's about a town other than Sacramento attempting to "steal away" the Kings. You're making this personal when it's most definitely not. If you recall, we felt the same way about Anaheim.

no i wouldnt. its just the nature of the situation. u think anybody in the surrounding area of Seattle has a nice thing to say about Oklahoma City? and it has nothing to do with the actual city

for the record i have never said a bad thing about VA beach or any other area in VA, but i do see where the hateful comments are coming from

I think that the animus on the part of Seattle fans is misdirected, and I am starting to think the same thing about Sacramento fans. Oklahoma City didn't screw Seattle: Clay Bennett did. And Virginia Beach isn't screwing Sacramento: the Maloofs are.

Save your hate for who deserves it.

Why wouldn't I take it personal? You telling me you wouldn't?

Of course I take it personally. It's the freaking SACRAMENTO Kings we're talking about. They're here...and they might leave and go to there, there being Virginia Beach or Hampton Roads or whatever. I'm sorry if you cannot see the difference. I understood the feelings of the Kansas City fans when the Kings were brought here. I didn't really care how they felt so perhaps it's karma finally coming around.

If you lose someone you love to someone else, you almost always blame the someone else even if the fault was not theirs. That's human nature. If we lose the Kings to another city, I will at least partially blame the new city. Is it right? Nope. Is it logical? Probably not.
