Trade Ron Artest to Bulls

Unless they are going to take Beasley and make some deals.

Why? Beasley was the consensus number 1 pick until Rose took his team deep into the tournament. I think they should take Rose as well, but I wouldn't call them stupid for drafting Beasley

Deng starts SF for them. And Thomas is their backup PF
Ok, but if Bulls will pick Beasley, then Gooden can be the backup PF and Thomas can be traded

I know where you're coming from, and it makes sense for them to trade Thomas to some degree. But Deng starts at SF, which is the position Ron plays. Both might be too slow to play SG. If not, then I guess it could work if the Bulls are looking for a quick turnaround. Otherwise, they're better off keeping the younger Thomas

If the Bulls take Rose they will look to move Hinrich... I still think there is about a 50-50 they take Beasley.. If so then they will look at trading Thomas, but I wouldn't touch him with a 10ft pole. I am not a fan of Tyrus, because he's not that good a player.
Potential is a word I hate using. If I were athletic and never touched a basketball in my life I would be called "raw with potential". Do you think I cold play some ball? Nope, never... All these guys who start playing the game late are like boxers who start with no amateur background. (huge boxing fan here). We all know what happens to 99% of those boxers right? They start out with a decent padded record then get KO'd by the first guy with a clue how to fight back.

I'm with ya, Gary. I'm sick of these Saer Sene's et al getting hyped for being an "outstanding physical specimen," having "upside" but can't play a lick of basketball. Crap, I'd fit into that category: tall, long wingspan, athletic, big jumper, big hands...by a scout's assessment I have bigtime upside. The thing is, my 12-year niece beat me on one-on-one last week. I can't play b-ball to save my life!
Back on topic, I would not want Tyrus Thomas in a Bulls trade. Scouts are still high on him, but I think he's got a bad attitude and shifty work ethic...and a few things I've read over the past two years seem to indicate that. I see him as a career underachiever unless he gets his act together.

The thing is that Tyrus will be a lot easier to deal off than Hinrich. If the Bulls really think that drafting Rose will necessitate moving Hinrich, they might think twice. Kirk is coming off a down year, and has four years and almost $37M left on his contract, while Thomas has the dreaded "P" word and is far more affordable with one year guaranteed (3.7M) and then the 4th-year team option (4.7M) left. If dealing away from a created surplus is going to factor into their draft thinking, they should be more likely to pick Beasley the way I see it.

It's not that I don't appreciate him, I just don't think he's that good. At least not yet. Remember what the knock on him in college was? If I remember right the scouting report on him summed up in a few words were athletic/raw/potential/tweener/undersized... I didn't see much of him in college so I couldn't become a fan of his.
you are obviously a fan of his, and that's fine. My criticisms of him are still the same as when he came into the league. He's too small to play PF consistently, and does not have a SF type of game. He has not even tapped into his potential, and I have no idea if he ever will. He is still raw, still a tweener, still athletic, and still undersized. In re: to his athleticism, do you think once he loses some of it playing in the league a few years that he will have anything to fall back on? At this point I would have to say no.
I don't think the Bulls would be interested in Artest. Deng is younger and less of a risk although he will be more expensive.
I DO, however think Brad Miller makes some sense in going to Chicago. If e could get a Bibby like trade involving future picks (even a second rounder) and shorter term contracts combined with a guy like Thomas I'd be happy. It would pretty much be the same as the Bibby trade except instead of getting a guy who isn't athletic enough to be a difference maker in the league, you get a guy who isn't developed enough to be a difference maker.
Obviously it depends heavily on what the marketfor Thomas would be. If it is a moderate to good market they wouldnt be interested.
As for Artest, I still think Phoenix makes the most sense as a trade partner moving forward.

their backcourt is already way too crowded wth heinrich, duhon, and even ben gordon. so either way they are going to have to make some trades for whoever they pick because that team has a lot excess baggage.

As long as he can really help Kings, it doesn't matter I am his fan or not, I will want him to be here, but if as you say he is not that good, then I think Geoff Petrie will also perceive and won't trade him here
