So many hopes and dreams. And we’re probably just going to walk away with a lineup of

Westbrook, LaVine, DDR, Murray, Sabonis

Not only is it awful, it’s not even fun in a trainwreck kind of way.

Which is why the Spurs giving Fox the max after he finagled his way there for practically free with three top 4 picks including Wemby will never cease to amaze me.

Totally agree... the Fox contract will inevitably become an albatross at some point. The spurs had every advantage to negotiate a more reasonable contract with him and just felt compelled to give it to him. With that said, the spurs scenario may be one of the only ones where that contract doesn't become crippling. Great young players on rookie contracts. Assuming fox doesn't get injured he is good enough as a 2nd or 3rd option to win a championship and then eventually move on somewhere else.

So you stipulate this to be a possibility, and you still think it's "inevitable" that Fox's contract becomes an albatross?

But they will have to extend Castle and Harper while Fox's contract is still on the books. I guess he only signed 4 and not 5 years so if both those guys turn into max contract level guys they would only be stuck with 4 max contracts for one season but yikes.

Because why would anyone trade for him if they can get him free in two to three weeks? It's posturing but they have to maintain it won't happen.

These trades to absorb salary getting more draft assets than trades for actual good players. These aprons are crazy.

Yes, and this is why the ability to absorb salary to make deals for other teams work should be the goal for any team that knows what it's doing and trying to rebuild. Attempting to rehab value is always netting less and too much of a gamble when compared to this.
