[NBA] Trade Deadline Season 2026 Open Thread

If Atlanta is attaching a pick to Trae, then he is a lot more appealing in Sacramento. Basically swap 1-plus years of Zach for 1-plus years of Trae, and a pick. Even better if you can get Trae to opt out. But either way you get a pick to essentially swap the even contracts of Trae and Lavine. Not sure if Atlanta actually would attach a pick in a Lavine swap (it makes more sense for them to have to do it in a Wizards swap since Washington is offering a large expiring contract), but if you can get a pick from Atl it is worth it.

If the trade was Zach for Trae and the ATL 2026 pick (top 4 protected) and if that doesn't convey the Spurs 2026 pick, would you do it? Basically a middle first round draft pick, or an outside chance at a late FRP if the Hawks win the lottery. The Hawks also have the Pelicans FRP, but no way they are trading that.

2026 roster - gap year part 2

Trae/Carter
Nique/Keon
Keegan/2026 Hawks FRP
2026 FRP/Precious
Domas/Max

Trade Westbrook, DDR, Schroeder, and Monk for additional capital. Use 2026 to evaluate whether Domas makes sense with the new core or should be traded, let Trae walk in 2027, and then focus on filling the PG position in the 2027 draft or free agency.

Yeah, I think this is a WAS only scenario where they're attaching a pick because they can get off Trae's money this off-season. They wouldn't attach a pick for LaVine

they can get that for Trey, he's solid and got room to still keep growing. Jrue, Bane, Gobert all fetched multiple first rounders, so will Trey. Herb on the other hand though, unlikely.
