[NBA] Trade Deadline Season 2026 Open Thread

Weird, Sam Amick said this morning that if he had to guess Domas will be on the Kings after the deadline

Well, if you're offering a best guess, you put your money on stasis under the current market conditions. It's just harder to execute big trades now, period, and even harder to do so before the deadline. NBA trade rumors have never been less interesting in that they portend so little. In the past, you could reasonably say "Where there's smoke, there's fire", but it's so much more difficult to get a flame going on the trade market under the new CBA.

They throw in a swap or a heavily protected first and I might be able to walk away okay with a deal

For taking on Poeltl's bloated deal and tossing Keon into the framework, I need at least one more first rounder, protected is fine. Failing that, I need at least two swaps. Pull Ellis out of the framework, and I could be convinced to accept less than that, but I'm not sending out the best player in the deal and also forking over an extremely useful 3 and D ace while relieving the Raptors of the Poeltl contract for anything less than three first rounders or two first rounders and two swaps.

Two picks in the 20s, a bad contract (though Jakob Poeltl has the best hockey name in the NBA so that's something), and the best player coming our way is another SG who is mostly a one-dimensional scorer. Not very exciting but this is probably the best we're going to get at the trade deadline. Throwing in Keon Ellis basically for free makes this a likely no from me. I'd hang onto Sabonis and see what's available on draft day instead.

The IDEA of taking a shot that Dillingham makes sense for our rebuild. Honestly though I just have no clue if he’s shown enough glimpses of talent that just needs an opportunity and some time, or if he’s just a former lottery pick who just sucks.
You’d really just be betting on the whole “Calipari has never really coached a bad NBA point guard aside” narrative and hoping that Dillingham follows the Malik Monk trajectory but yeah I’m not sure if he’s any good or not
