Okay well of course I don't agree with the whole Maloof thing but everyone is entitled to their own opinion I suppose. ;)

Top 10 Things Worth Hissing for in NBA
By STEVE ASCHBURNER, AOL

1. Kobe Bryant

America hates phonies and this guy is a living, breathing lie, given the image he portrayed and the backroom shenanigans (or worse) he pursued. Then he used his free agency to nudge the Lakers' hand regarding Shaquille O'Neal and Phil Jackson. The $4 million peace offering to the missus, his share-the-muck accusations about Shaq to authorities, his grab at street cred as soon as he got into trouble and, c'mon, just the way he plays all are good reasons to root against Bryant.

2. Isiah Thomas

Something about that disingenuous smile rubs folks the wrong way. Then there is his ability, like Billy Zane's character in 'Titanic,' to end up in the lifeboat after sinking yet another operation. And his unsportsmanlike reputation as a player -- refusing to shake the Bulls' hands, the comments against Larry Bird, the alleged freeze-out of Michael Jordan in the 1985 All-Star Game -- serves as another reminder that it's all about Zeke.

3. Steve Francis

Always an excuse, always some reason to need one with this guy. You'd think he and Cuttino Mobley had set up housekeeping with a picket fence and rose garden the way Francis pouted after Mobley's trade. How 'bout taking on the burden of leading the Magic where they need to go?

4. Shawn Bradley

Puh-leeze, enough is enough. Most draft busts go away a lot sooner than the elbow-flaying thin man.

5. Vince Carter

Sure, he played great for a while after joining the Nets. But that exposed how lackluster he performed for the Toronto Raptors, who made him filthy rich and needed him to sell the sport in Canada. Somewhere there has to be a lawyer willing to take on a case against Carter for withholding services.

6. Darius Miles

Time to grow up or move on, young fella. Getting traded twice should have delivered enough of a message, but no, Miles -- after Portland handed him a $48 million contract -- had to brazenly challenge Blazers coach Maurice Cheeks this season. After an eight-point, five-turnover performance Sunday, Miles went hardwood Barry Bonds, saying: "The way I look at it is it's a job right now. It's not really fun anymore. It's a job.''

7. Donald Sterling

The Clippers' owner stubbornly has refused to cultivate Orange County as a natural home for his club. He only recently began paying market-value contracts, after an exodus of highly drafted players. He plops at midcourt and seems truly content with his Double-A operation.

8. The Maloof Brothers

Yeah, we know, they're wild and crazy guys. They run a casino, they have cushy chairs at midcourt with a family crest emblazoned on the seat backs, they out-Cuban Mark Cuban when it comes to fan-slash-owner notoriety. But the act is wearing thin and so, apparently, is their team's status as a contender. Bad arena news and the Chris Webber trade seemed well-deserved.

9. Alonzo Mourning

It's all about 'Zo, all the time. What sort of buyout can he get? What can an owner do to demonstrate his commitment to Mourning? Whose shirttails can he glom onto for a ring that will mean something to... well, to him. At least now, for his refusal to play for Toronto, has an entire nation rooting against him.

10. Golden State Warriors

If there's any justice, Baron Davis will continue to spend as much time in sick bay and traction as in the Warriors' starting lineup. Bad management has kept this team among the bottom feeders for, what, decades now. You could stock an NBA champion with all the players these guys have given up on.

some are rather good gripes others aren't

its apparent...well at least to me....that these aren't thing that the whole NBA nation can latch on to...they are just STEVE ASCHBURNER gripes

if you really wanted to have a list like this for the entire NBA Nation...it would MOST definetly include Mark Cuban....c'mon here lets be reasonable

The Kobe Bryant is just so tired and old....GET OVER IT ALREADY!
Shawn Bradley isn't even worthy of being on any kid of list...period.
Donald Sterling...though i would have to agree that he really should move the clippers to THE OC...its his decision...if he doesn't want to he doesn't want to
The Maloof Bros...do they really have family encrested seat cushions? If so, so what? They own the frickin team and they have the money to have it so...GET OVER IT!
The first sentence in the Vince Carter blurb is just plain BOGUS..."sure he played great for awhile after joining the NETS"...ahh did Steve stop watching after that cuz Vince is STILL ballin with the Nets...and that statement is just ridiculous
The Steve Francis argument is pretty tired and old as well...lets be reasonable here his best friend was traded to another team out of nowhere...his emotions where up in the air so yeah he didn't have a great game or two...fact of the matter is Steve Francis IMO has played at an all star level all year long...and fact of the matter is Steve Francis has carried his team to victory WITH Cuttino and WITHOUT Cuttino...as for the Burden...he took it on the second he became a Orlando Magic member...need i remind you that this team was the worst team in the league last year...and look at them now

ugh...on second thought...this Steve guy really doesn't know what he's talking about...it seems to me as they are he isn't all that knowledgeable about the game of BASKETBALL and these are his own personal gripes about the people/organizations surrounding the league

i was really looking forward to 10 great gripes...but instead i got 4 maybe..

Family encrested seat cushions??? I guess the M on the chair must be their family crest

Anyway, to have the Maloofs on there and not Mark Cuban is a disgrace. Cuban's act is VERY old(standing in the teams huddle during time-outs, constantly screaming and yelling at the officials during games).

I have to agree with you!! But hey, it was fun to read "Steve's" opinion, because that's all that it was...maybe next time he should take a poll first..;)

that is crap. mark cuban is MUCH more annoying then the maloofs. those facial expressions are SO old. and his endless travel call needs to go.

replace the maloofs with cuban and that list works for me

ill tell you an owner who has the potential of beating out Mark Cuban for the most annoying owner....

the owner of the Phoenix Suns...i don't know his name...but he sits at midcourt with his Suns #1 foam finger and just spazzes out with every bucket...its absolutely amazing to watch a grown man act like that

plus once i saw him get interviewed he came across as a bit of a flake

That article is a turd in this here sweet punchbowl of a forum. Only the Carter and Francis commentary I can sorta get behind.

Assburner failed to mention that the NBA would KILL for players like Isiah Thomas. Revisionist history at its best to bring up little things he did from the 80s to besmirch his reputation as a winner and ambassador to the league. The Kobe bit is laughable on many levels (how's this guy going to explain Kobe's strategy of getting Col Sanders fired when he's back on LA's bench next season?). I don't get why Bradley and Miles are even a topic of discussion. Sterling rightfully doesn't give max deals to momos like Maurice Taylor -- hence Assburner's little caveat that he "only recently" started paying market value for high draftees (Brand and Maggette). Don't get the commentary about the Maloofs...are not these the owners who got so much praise over the past 5 years for their style?

And I've said this before to another writer who forgot something while harping on the poor state of the NBA...

HEY, MORON!...YOU FORGOT TO MENTION ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE DET/INDY BRAWL!
