Terell Owens has been taken to the hospital, and the doctors ae trying to induce vomiting...

I know people think he's an arogant a-hole, but he was and probably still is one of my favorite recievers in the league.

Moment of silence, and I hope everything turns out to be okay...

Report: Terrell Owens taken to ER
Posted: Wednesday September 27, 2006 12:20AM; Updated: Wednesday September 27, 2006 2:18AM

DALLAS (AP) -- Terrell Owens was taken to the emergency room for an undisclosed reason Tuesday night, and doctors treating the Dallas Cowboys receiver were trying to induce vomiting, according to a television report.

Owens was brought by a fire rescue crew to Baylor Medical Center, Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT reported, citing sources the television station did not identify. A reporter for the station later said she saw Owens being wheeled down the hall.

Another Dallas-Forth Worth television station, KXAS, cited a source within the Cowboys' organization as saying Owens suffered an adverse reaction to medication that he's taking for a broken bone in his hand he sustained Sept. 17 in a 27-10 win over the Washington Redskins.

Calls from The Associated Press to Owens' agent, his publicist and the Cowboys were not immediately returned Tuesday night. The hospital told the AP that they do not have a patient registered by Owens' name.

KTVT said a Dallas police spokesperson was en route to the hospital to talk about a "high profile case."

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger a week ago Sunday night. The next day, a plate was screwed in, protecting the bone so it can heal without further damage.

Earlier Tuesday, Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he expects Owens to rejoin his teammates at practice Wednesday and would start Sunday in Tennessee if he proves he can play.

"It's just, can he withstand the pain of catching the ball?" Parcells said. "When he can stand it, he can play."

With the Cowboys having had a bye last weekend, Owens could return without having missed a game. He's already said he'll play Oct. 8, when he gets to face his former team, the Eagles, in Philadelphia.

The Ticket, The big radio station is Dallas has reported that T.O tried to kill himself. The Police report evidently says he took 25 pills.

MSNBC just reported it.

This is a hard case -- sympathy and "that's sad"s are definitely called for, but since T.O. has often made ME want to vomit and kill him, they are tough to come by.

Now we come to the armchair psychoanalysis -- has all of the borderline psychotic egomania really just been a cover for a near suicidal level of self-hatred? Or did T.O. wake up one morning and finally realize how atrociously he had trashed what would have been a HOF career? (or more cynically woke up one morning, realized he was no longer the biggest story in the league, or even town, and just couldn't deal).

Suicide is actually MORE comon in adults who have remarkable lives than unremarkable. The assumption being that peopel who belive that success will valedate them and remove their negative self immage become hopeless once the success is achived and they still don't feel good about themselves. Hard to say how unstable TO is/was but obviously he had problems and I hope he gets help.

This is what I believe is the case. I am truly astonished.

In this case, it really is truly sad and I'll just leave it at that.

I think this brings an interesting spin to players injuries. These guys are often injured and in alot of pain. It would be so easy to becaome addicted to pain killers if you are an often injured professiona athlete.

I just never thought about that aspect of injuries.

And, once again, it appears more likely than not that this was a tempest in a teapot. I saw Terrell's press conference and he does not look depressed. He doesn't look like someone who tried to kill himself.

I think the Dallas police over-reacted and someone wanted to be the first to "leak" something that wasn't actually true. And the media, of course, ran with it.

I know some will want to believe he's trying to spin the whole situation but I've seen people after they attempted to commit suicide. They don't pop right back into normalcy after their cry for attention or whatever has failed. I think it was a reaction to a combination of drugs and supplements that caused his problem.

Nothing to see here, IMHO. Move on...

Yet ESPN thought enough of it do to a 30 minute TO tribute during Sportscenter. I fear the day when that station's constant hounding and glorification of athletes pushes one of them over the edge...

While I agree for the most part, with VF, I just have to question the use of the term "Normal" in any reference to the jerk who wore Antonio Bryant's jersey three years ago. There's a supicious whisper in my ear saying this was just another act in the T.O. circus.

Brett Favre is an example of that...

Hard to comment being a cowboys fan. I think this is all BS and he did what was said in the police report. Either way that is sports, never wanted him on the team to begin with

Which police report? The initial one, which was shown to have errors and some leaps to conclusions or the revised one?

If his name wasn't Terrell Owens, the Dallas police department wouldn't have been so quick to release information, a fact that was admitted today in at least one interview I saw.
