Holiday house cleaning, trade ideas:

TRADE #1 (Kings/Knicks/Heat)

KINGS:
OUT: KThomas (7.3M) to NY, Brad Miller (10.5M) to NY, Quincy Douby (1.3M) to NY
IN: Jason Williams (8.9) from Miami, Ricky Davis (6.8M) from Miami, Dorell Wright (1.7M) from Miami, David Lee (.9M )from NY

KNICKS:
IN: KThomas (7.3M), BMiller (10.5M), Quincy Douby (1.3M)
OUT: Marbury (20.1M) & David Lee (.9M)

HEAT:
IN: Marbury (20.1M)
OUT: Jason Williams (8.9), Dorell Wright (1.7M), Ricky Davis (6.8M)

Kings get expiring contracts plus young players, Knicks dump a head case and get some "talent" in return, Heat get a much needed PG.

================================================

Trade #2 (Kings/Cleveland)

KINGS/Cleveland
IN: Daniel Gibson (.7M) Drew Gooden (6.4M), Cedric Simmons (1.6M) + filler Ira Newbie (3.4M), Shannon Brown (1.1M)
OUT: M Bibby (13.5M+kicker)

Kings dump an albatross and get a few prospects in Gibson and Simmons. Don't care about Gooden, but don't want any other Cleveland players other than James.

================================================

Trade #3 (Contract Dumps)

Kings/Magic (Orlando supposedly wants him...)
SAR (5.8M) for Arroyo (4M) & Bo Outlaw (1.2M)

Kings/Rockets (Mikki might be an improvement over Charylie Hayes)
Mikki (5.4M) for Steve Francis (2.4M) & Bobby Surra (3.8M)

================================================

Trade #4 (Kings/Bulls/Lakers) After a 2-8 start hope the Bulls reconsider trading for Kobe, and re-ignite the rumored deal that lands us Jordan Farmer and Tyrus Thomas, and we send Artest to LAL.

Kings out: Artest
Kings in: Jordin Farmer & Tyrus Thomas

================================================

Trade #5 Trade Ricky Davis to NJN

Ricky Davis (6.8M) for Jamal Magloire (4.0M) + NJ's $2.6 Trade Exception expiring Jan 2 08

Gives us a starting Center for a year while Hawes matures.

===================================================

FINAL LINE-UP:

SF: JSalmons, TThomas, Dorell Wright
PF: Gooden, DLee*, JWilliam, CSimmons
C: JMagloire*, Hawes
SG: KMartin, Garcia
PG: Beno*, Farmer, Gibson, JWill*, SFrancis*, Arroyo*

Salary Commitment 08-09 ~$33-35M depending if we pick-up Wright's option. FA after this year(*).

Better a riot in Miami than Sac. The Heat have one, maby two years before Shaq becomes completely useless and Riley fires himself. They have to make a move to improve and players w/ warts are the best they can do w/ the pieces they have. btw, players w/o a future in the franchise will be cut or traded for draft picks (ie Jwill, Franchise, Arroyo, etc).

NY might say no now, but come mid-december when they're 3-18, they'll be begging for someone to take a cancer like Marbury off their hands.

Miami wouldn't do trade #1, because they're left without a starting small forward. Penny Hardaway isn't going to cut it. The Knicks are also never going to give up David Lee, particularly for the Kings' garbage.

Multiple-for-one trades typically don't work in a middle of a season, where rosters are set. The Kings would be force to waive mutiple players with guaranteed contracts. Additionally, the Cavs would be without any power forwards. That rules out trade #2.

Trade #3 doesn't work because Bo Outlaw was waived after the Lakers trade. Houston already has a defensive/offensive platoon at PF in Hayes/Scola, who are both better than Moore.

Trade #4, the Lakers will never accept Wallace and Artest for Kobe. Who would be their starting shooting guard, Trevor Ariza?

Trade #5, the Nets already have Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter. They already have too thin a frontcourt without giving up Magloire.

Thanks for the comments, chrisnu. I need to preface by saying any trade involving Bibby and Artest has to include either expiring contracts and/or picks/young talent. A trade to save some money long-term is pointless like the Webber trade.

Trade #1, If Miami doesn't want to part w/ Dorell, I'd be willing to work w/ them. Perhaps for a 2nd round pick (which is their current trend is might be fairly high). But the principle is the dump Miller and Thomas on NY and get David Lee in return (Wright is just icing on the cake).

Trade #2, If I'm going to trade Bibby to Cleveland I want to accomplish two things 1) immediate cap space 2) young talent. Like I said, I don't want Gooden, but Daniel Gibson is non-negotiable and Cedric Simmons would be good insurance. If we take Damon Jones w/ his addition year, the Cavs have to throw in a 1st round pick in return. Good point about the multiple-for-one issue, the Kings can give them Watkins, it doesn't matter. I didn't mention him b/c he'd be only filler.

Trade #3, the point is to dump long-term salary for close to nothing in return. If the Magic want SAR for an expiring, I'll help him pack. I don't care if we get Bo Outlaw or Bo Diddle. They can give us anyone in return as long as their contract is expiring. And if they want to give us a 2nd pick the better.

Trade #4 refers to the "Big Trade Rumor" where the Lakers get Gordon, Hinrich, and Artest for Kobe and Farmer. Link No where was Wallace mentioned. Just hope the Bulls loss more games and it may happen.

Trade #5, I'm not so sure NJN doesn't want another SF/SG. Carter was out 5 games and the team got completely embarrassed. Magloire only plays 10min max a game anyway. Hell maybe they'll take Mikki off our hands. :D I just want a serviceable center for a year until Hawes is ready.

Bibby/Artest for Marbury/Lee

I can see right now, NYK has the worst problem regarding personnel, especially with Marbury. They will be the one most probably going for a trade. Gooden will be a long shot for the Kings, since the Cavs will never part ways with Gooden just to get an aging player like Bibby.

Besides, a trade with NYK and Kings looks more doable and can instantly make each team a lot better.

Artest and Bibby ( 7.5M + 13.5M = $ 21 M ) for David Lee and Marbury ( 19M + 1M = $ 20 M)

FOR THE KNICKS:

The Knicks will get rid of themselves of their biggest headache ( Marbury ), will lose a power forward ( David Lee ), but gains a very good defender SF ( Artest ) to play with Zach Randolph. They would still have a decent PG on Bibby.

They will also get rid of Marbury's contract as early as now, instead of 2 years from now.

FOR THE KINGS:

Lee will instantly fill in the need for a true power forward which the rebuilding Kings has been missing eversince Webber got traded. The upside on Lee is that he's only 24 yrs. old, has proven to be a true PF with NBA level skill, as compared to the NBA-untested new guys coming in through draft if we are to wait for the lottery.

Marbury is an instant offensive threat very much like Bibby. Also like Bibby, Marbury has no defense. But maybe a change of team might get Marbury to play defense, especially under coach Theus style of coaching.

If Marbury does not change, then it is still a win for the Kings coz we will now have only 1 ballhog ( Marbury ) instead of 2 ballhogs ( Artest and Bibby ), and gain Lee who fits very well on the Kings' missing piece at #4.

Contract-wise, the Kings just extended for another year the 20 M that should have been out next year. But after 2 years , Thomas, Rahim, and Marbury's contract are going to expire which can cumulatively give the Kings more salary space to finalize the rebuilding, and maybe get a franchise player.
