It has nothing to do with "believing the hype," so much as it is my own personal commentary on how I essentially think that it's sort of ****ed up that somebody thinks that a coach who led their team to a championship also "ruined" them in two years, especially seeing as how they made two consecutive trips to the Finals in both of those years. They didn't look "ruined" to me.
Obviously, when your team gets to Game 7 of the Finals, they "could have" won. I don't have any emotional interest in the Detroit Pistons, and I don't have an axe to grind with respect to Larry Brown, like you do, so I'm not prepared to say that it's his fault that they didn't win.
I suppose that I don't by into that "players win, coaches lose" paradigm; never have, and never will. The Pistons didn't win the Championship in 2004 "in spite of" Larry Brown, and they didn't get back to the Finals in 2005 "in spite of" him, either.
