Kings mulling over ex-Monarchs coach (Yahoo! Sports)
There is an unorthodox but intriguing scenario under consideration within the Sacramento Kings' front office...

I would have no problem with such a coaching-duo move since the whole thing is about to be blown up or at least a rebuilding faze with the young kids soon underway. I'm beginning to think the Kings brain-trust is not going to bring in any of the others interviewed before, not going for assorted NBA coach retreads, or look to the college ranks. Reggie Theus is going to be an NBA head coach at some point - almost guaranteed. Whiz is the perfect temporary, cheap fill, paving the way for Theus for longer term. It sounds like the Maloofs know they were burned by Musselman big time and feeling the ouch of paying off the remainder of his contract to boot.

Sounds like the Maloofs still have the IQs of toe cheese and are apt to meddle again. Never thought I'd wish my team was owned by Donald Sterling.

In any case, I'm going to treat this as nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor, potentially invented out of whole cloth, until there is some sort of confirmation. One East Coast columnist referring to soem mysterious "waestern conference official" who somehow has word of what Geoff is thinking 2 days after the old coach was fired. Odd, especially considering Whiz himself is inhouse.

Once we get confirmation then I will will move onto the incredible wisdom of hring a head coach and top protege who have a combined ZERO games of NBA coaching experience, in any capacity. We, again, seem bound and determined to return to the bad ole days. This sounds classic old Kings. Maybe Bill Russel era or thereabouts. Not about hiring pros, about being a sideshow.
