Anybody else watching this series on BBC America? I realize it's a couple of years old but I didn't see it when it first ran.

My one complaint? No matter how good an actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is, I just can't buy him as Henry VIII. His acting is credible but I think not having an actor who physically resembles the portly prince is unfortunate.

I have to admit that the scene of Cromwell's execution was horrific. I remember learning in history class that it was botched by a drunken executioner, but didn't understand the ramifications. Kudos to the director of the series for finding a way to install the horror of the moment into the scene without too much gore.

If we had more TV time, this series would be on the top of the ones to catch up with (well, behind True Blood).

I haven't watched it, I'm afraid. (adds to list of shows, movies and books I'd like to cover, many of which I'll never get to.)

By the way, the execution of Wallace in "Braveheart" was pretty well done, but the actual execution was too brutal to portray too accurately. We humans sure are good at figuring out how to torture other humans aren't we? :(
