The time to trade Evans has come

"Me and (Thornton) had a long talk in the locker room yesterday," Evans said. "We just said ... we got to find a way. A lot of people complain about the offense, it's not the greatest offense, but it works when we run it. So we just got to keep playing hard like that. We got tough road games coming up and we got to go out there and play hard."

Regardless of what is happening with DMC at the moment, it is good to see our other two young guys are getting along. Those two seem to be buddies.

Is anyone else a little thrown by that statement? I was like um...what?

Funny thing is, if Cousins says to the media last night after the Knicks game, he would have been suspended for 2 games for "disagreeing with the coach".

Not exactly an endorsement of the offense is it?!

Its a back handed "compliment" if ever I saw one!

Pretty damn clear more than a couple players don't have any trust in Westy's system, or respect him as a coach.

I posted yesterday I thought the situation would go one of two ways, but Jesus Christ, I didn't expect it so soon. I jump on a plane, get home, and the player revolt is almost full force.

The pressure is on Petrie and the Maloofs to make the right decision and not let this drag on too long. I'd love to hear an argument stating West has done anything but lose this team. I'm don't expect there could be an argument for that.

Evans has Westphal's chestnuts in a vice. PW is completely spineless. Managing difficult characters is one of the defining characteristics of great coaches, they know how to have a respectful professional relationship with their players while carefully observing boundaries to avoid clashes with combustible personalities. Westphal gets off on crossing lines and starting fires.

Did anyone notice the fastbreak where Tyreke passed the ball to Thornton and Thornton gave it back and Tyreke scored? I don't know what game it was this season, but they were in the exact same situation and they'd go 1 vs 1 instead of 2 vs 1. Sharing the ball more will give us a better chance of winning games

I don't want to see ANYONE on this team traded until we see how they do with a new coach.

This X 1000. I'm finally done with Westphal. There's just too many black marks against him to ignore any longer. Players don't get better under him and in many cases actually get worse. Two years and players are still saying there's no offense and no one knows what they're supposed to do, etc. At some point you have to stop replacing cars and ask yourself if maybe the problem is the driver.

I think you guys are over reacting about that Evans quote. I want to see how this team does without Cousins distracting them.

It isn't just that quote though. There's also "Everybody keeps blaming the coach, about the plays, the plays not good, but, hey, it be like that sometime". Reading between the lines, it seems pretty clear that more than one player are unhappy with the plays/offense.

This. It truely has become a winning-in-spite-of-the-coach situation

Before any trades happen, the coach has to go. If a team isn't winning, you have to change the leadership first before the pieces. Westphal has lost my confidence, for what it's worth.

I ONLY trade Evans for someone like Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo or Deron Williams. Otherwise, no way. Remember, when healthy Evans is a 20-5-5 player, those players are special.

I agree. That being said, he did awesome tonight! I really hope he keeps it up. Loved the passing on the break last night.
