(Exhale) WOW how bout that road trip?!

Well its over and I think we just had a opportunity to learn alot about the current state of this team, the players, and the coach.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REBUILDING...
First off we are rebuilding, and we have been rebuilding. By trading Bibby first and then Artest. We essentially said we are going to really, really, REALLY SUCK THIS YEAR! Artest is an All-Star and defensive player of the year, and when paired with Miller and K-Mart he gives us alot more W's... although obviously not enough W's to be a contender, but enough W's to be an 8th seed.

We have decided that enough with the 8th seed! lets blow it up and build a contender! well this is the year of the YOUTH! all we can hope to accomplish this year is ONE....hope that the kids get enough mins to grown and improve and TWO... hope we lose enough games to draft 1 or 2 in this draft.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE PLAYERS...
Well i wanna start with Mikki Moore- YOUR FIRED! he should be done starting, and hopefully things will improve with Miller, and either Hawes, or Thompson at the 4 and 5.

Kenny Thomas- is seeing the floor for a reason, I personally would love to see him moderately improve his trade value by most likely grabbing more boards in his avg game off the bench, than Mikki Moore could in 4 games as a starter. ??? Kenny thomas should be the next big(sorta big) off the bench behind either Thompson or Hawes... that comment will bring me to...

Williams- Williams is huge but not tall, and is alright, but not that good. He's got no future on this team, and no future in the NBA unless he can lose a lot more weight and learn how to jump. Hes good for nothing but taking up space. Yes he gets rebounds cause he forces his way under the basket but he isnt a good rebounder. Like when he was on the Hawks if we didn't have guys like Mikki Moore running around not getting any rebounds, and being pushed everywhere, Williams would be buried on the end of the bench.

Kevin Martin- Cant do it alone, hes no Kobe Bryant. Martin will be one of the best 2nd scoring options in the NBA as soon as we find the first. Martin will probably score more than the first option. But the key to Martin being able to score is having another BIG TIME THREAT out on the floor with him, and right now Salmons isnt even close to being that threat.

Thompson/Hawes- Only bright spots. One of these guys needs to be starting with Miller and the other needs to be the first big off the bench... nuff said.

Brown- Needs to be the back up to Beno

Greene- Needs to at least suit up. and play just a little bit

Beno- We didn't over pay... but it wasn't cheap... your a baby, and will likely be injured soon cause you will feel the need to make excuses for your decline. FUTURE TRADE BAIT

Miller and Garcia- we need them back!

everyone else- who cares, you'll be gone at the end of the year

The Coach...
Although he doesnt have a choice hes playing some of the youth. Im not giving him any credit for playing Thompson more the Mikki because any coach no matter how stupid, would be playing Thompson over Mikki right now.

I hope the poor play of some of the vets, Bobby Jax, Moore, ect will force Reggie's hand into starting and playing the youth alot this year. Greene is someone im not expecting alot out of this year but he should be hitting the floor during all this blowouts!!!

Reggie has a temper and showed it tonight by his furious sub's of Williams and Thompson for Hawes and Moore... I really cant blame him on that one, but i just hope he doesn't get too overboard with his fits... like storming out of practice?

Reggies job is safe everyone knew we would suck... but im not feeling his usage of the roster.

Seems like Garcia would be better off starting than Salmons.. W/ Miller at 4 and Hawes at 5 interchangeable... don't play Kenny or Mikki..

Salmon is talented...no one can take that away from him

...but he just doesnt fit here.
He would be ideal in a contending team...and I mean IDEAL.
John would be the perfect fit coming off the bench for 30 minutes and giving teams that 15 pts off the bench with some solid defense.

oh and Jason Thompson needs to start ASAP
I dont care if you are paying Mikki 5 mil per year, he does not deserve to play if he is getting 4 rebounds in 4 games and you're 7 feet tall.

We've been there before and John Salmons should never ever come off the bench. In the long run it may make more sense. We desperately need a catch and shoot guy. Everybody gets the open look and trys to make a move to the hoop for better shot when they had a great shot to begin with.

The problem with John Salmons is his brain. Like in the orlando game on many occasions he just hogged the ball for a few seconds ignoring spencer posting up against the smaller Lewis and then drove into 3 defenders one of whom happened to be Dwight Howard. And while salmons is good at finishing around the rim, he doesn't have like vince carter kind of hang time or anything, hell no one on our team can dunk very much. When's the last time you saw an alley oop dunk and not kmart's layup things.

uhmmm our team has a history of letting guys who can dunk go

Dhantay Jones
Maurice Evans
Ronnie Price
GERALD WALLACE

i would like to see Garcia start for our team soon Salmons isnt working out....Hes doing what salmons do best... go up the river

uhhh John is our best defender, and people are overrating is ball hogging.. he does pass alot more then most on the team. We need him to start to get his value up. Garcia is fine coming off the bench so why fix whats not broken.

I totally agree. John is the least of our problems. Garcia's defense is suspect. He makes most of his steals from behind after his man blows by him. We have enough guys playing already that can't stay in front of their man.

1) Mikey Moore - done. he has no place in our rebuilding process.

2) Kevin Martin - he is not a star, and the sooner we realize this the better. He is a great number 2 option imo, but in no way a number 1. And start playing some Defense Kevin!

3) Bobby Jackson - love him but his tank is almost empty. We should have been able to get more for Artest, that is for sure.

4) Jason Thompson - Looks great, he should be getting 30 min/night. It's obvious to my eyes he is vastly superior than Mikey or SW. When Brad returns i dont care to see either of them getting time. Great job Petrie with loading up your bench with garbage time big men MM, SW, and KT.

All in all I think were lucky to win 30 games. Might as well play the hell outta our young guys.

Depends on what becomes of Greene - tough to say right now when you don't get any PT. Is 6-12 minutes a game too much to ask for? Especially when you're down 30?! I mean, Theus does know this is the NBA, right? He doesn't have to worry about burning a redshirt.

We can argue about exact minutes, but I agree with your main point. Personally, I would cap his minutes at about 24 per game, since rookies historically run out of gas in the 2nd half of the season.

And how long is it going to take to get his value up?

You should never try to fix what isn't broken....
But you should try to fix WHAT IS broken...which means we need to fix our starting 5. FAST.

At some point this year, I'd like to see a lineup of Hawes, Thompson, Greene, Martin and Garcia. (Martin defends the point. Garcia, or Thompson, brings up the ball). That is the most athletic lineup that we currently come up with, and all five players look like they are going to be around for a while.
