The roller coaster ride of Kings fandom

Good Post VF!

I'm definitely in line, and I'm not budging. I'm admittedly a little more quiet than past seasons, but I'm digging in for the long haul.

Could be a long winter. Thanks for the campfire. ;)

And to the naysayers?

PFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!

We are KINGSFANS! Hear us roar!

I was in town (Yuba City) today, wearing my Kings gear. I lost count of how many people either smiled, flashed a thumbs up or said, "GO KINGS!"

And that's in Yuba City...

I LOVE THIS TEAM! And I love being a fan of the Sacramento Kings!!!

I swear VF, everytime it feels like I want to give up watching this team, you come up with some poetic heart string tugger piece of work like this. Damn you for not letting me give up. ;) By the way, does this apply to our beloved 49ers as well or is the line for that ride a bit longer?:)

Well not trying to but in but ... I love NFL football but don't know much about the 49ers. Since they are around the bottom of the league I think their ride MIGHT be shorter than the Kings. The Kings migh still be on their way down. 49er can only go up right?:)

Things aren't very much fun right now. The team is at loose ends. The fans, sensing the lack of effort or focus from the team, are becoming less and less tolerant of sub-par performances.

Well, here's the bad news: It's not going to get better overnight.

And the good news? It's not going to get better overnight.

A paradox you say? Perhaps, but perhaps we need to look at it this way.

A lot of us have been spoiled the last few years. It's been an E ticket ride being a Kings fan. Things were so much fun we didn't want the ride to end.

But all good things come to an end. Now, the current ride is over.

We have to exit, find our way out and then decide if we want to stand in line for the next available car.

Standing in line isn't fun. In fact, it's pretty boring. There isn't much to cheer about. After all, the old ride is over. There are the fond memories but you can't keep cheering about it forever.

The new ride hasn't begun yet. You know it's going to, but until it does, there's just no real passion to share. So, we have to find things to talk about to pass the time...

We are Kings fans. We've been at the bottom. We took the ride and had the times of our lives. Sure, we didn't grab the brass ring but the ride was still well worth the cost.

Now, we're looking at the line, trying to decide if we have the patience and fortitude to queue up again and wait for however long it takes.

Me? I'm in line. I may gripe about some of the things that happen, but I'm not giving up my spot.

If you really want to appreciate something, you have to wait for it. You can't truly enjoy good unless you've seen bad. Sweet isn't quite as sweet unless you've known sour.

It's frustrating for every single one of us right now. Some of us deal with it a little better than others. Some will decide the wait is too long or the price is too dear and they'll leave. At the end, however, when the car is loading for the first trip up the hill, we'll all wonder how we ever doubted that it would happen again.

I'm sticking around. Are you?

GO KINGS!!!!!
Thanks VF. Nice perspective, and right on. One might look at the Chicago Bulls as an example. Their high was much higher than the Kings got, but look at the time it has taken for them to reach again to a respectable level of competitiveness.

Ya, let's stick around. That's what being a fan is all about.

From here in Atlanta, I'm with the Kings FOREVER! And all my friends down here will believe it, even if they think I'm crazy! Been through too much with them already to give up on them.

"A" for effort VF ...

100% in agreement with you ...

Once the "non-accepting King's fans" recognize they are in DENIAL, life will get easier for them to accept the season our King's are having.

For myself, my expectations have been knocked-down about 8-stories in a 10-story building (thus my way of dealing with our King's and NOT POSTING in all the negative threads).

My POSITIVE-SIDE or GOOD NEWS in all of this ... THINGS CHANGE

If not today, tomorrow or sometime soon .... THINGS CHANGE

... and I'll be there in my puple/white - purple/black - and YES that mustard color or California Gold color or whatever it is.

:)

Yeah it's tough being a Kings fan now, and I've been getting a good amount of teasing for being one, but I don't really care. I love the Kings, and I'm sticking around. I believe that it is in times likes these that they most need our support, to not give up on them and just keep cheering them on. I'm optimistic that things will be better soon. Go Kings!
