Tyreke Evans means no more moments of the Kings point guard being abused on either side of the ball. From now on, the Kings are the enforcer at the point for 48 minutes. From now on, the Kings are going to be tougher and more physical with their opponents. Shots to the mouth will be responded to with a shot to the opponents mouth!

Before i get started this thread is not for the woulda coulda's. This is about a new identity as a tough minded and hard working team. Petrie has more than proved he can draft talent. Rubio is talented but apparently Evans is better, in fact seriously, we all know he's better than Rubio right now. But who will be better down the line??? Well... lets let them play a year or so in the NBA and compare then. so...

Wow what a difference a day makes!!! I dunno bout you but im pumped with the new image and style of team we're building here. I wanna start with probably the most disliked pick of tonights group...

Jon Brockman! Hawes will testify to the fact this guy never takes a play off. Heres a good read(link). Tough as nails broke his nose 5 times! He was picked right around where most draft "experts" thought he'd go. I really like this pick and so did Chad Ford on the team grades. Brockman reminds me of the ENFORCER in hockey, he is gonna just smash! but the good news is he can rebound too! Also i think you'll find hes more mobile than K9 or Shelden Williams.

As for Casspi well hes more well known. A sorta Noc clone but taller. Again tough as nails, mean on defense. I was reading about he just tore into Austin Daye.
"“Austin Daye vs. Omri Casspi turned into a real wrestling match. Casspi just manhandled Daye, really threw him around. It was a bit disappointing to see how little Daye was able to compete from a strength perspective—Casspi is a kind of a skinny guy himself. At one point Casspi cut Daye’s lip open--he had to go to hospital for stitches. The Nets should have done a better job of getting someone to call fouls. Casspi was fouling the hell out of Daye. Some of the guys were looking at each other like ‘what are we watching here?’

Casspi was impressive, just like he’s been everywhere he’s gone. He plays hard, competes. He hit tough shots. Step-backs, runners. Then he missed some wide open J’s—go figure. He hits the toughest shots, but can’t always make the easiest ones. He looked like he could be a great complementary player in a 5 on 5. Definitely an atypical player for a European. “

Then on to the FACE...(face after Gavin Maloof put all kinds of pressure on him) Tyreke Evans!!!

the man of the hour! Im gonna make it real quick. you put Evans on the floor in Benos place last year. We would have landed Griffen... LOL! by that i mean would have won more games. Actually I think we could have been a lot closer to 30ish range(so probably the #2 pick), and this is based on Evans defense alone. Thats just how bad our perimeter defense was with obviously most of the blame going to BENO!

But that will all change... Evans unlike Artest and John Salmons is not mentally retarded. yes he needs the ball to do his thing. he is the PG right? So what if hes not Steve Nash. He fills so many needs this team has its ridiculous.

anyway back to the team... All the players we've been adding have a lot of the same qualities... tough, never quit, scrappy, etc... and im excited about tomorrow! Also this cant be stressed enough... all these guys really, REALLY want to be here. They want to win, and they want to make the Team better and their willing to put in the time to make that happen.

I hope the Kings will play with a hungry attitude next season. And I don't mean hungry like Quincy Douby who needs food, but hungry for wins.

I have good feelings for next season, and hopefully Evans is as good as Maloofs make him out to be

... You dropped your Rubio love that fast huh?

I had them both (Rubio and Evans) about even heading into the draft. With a slight edge to Rubio.

I knew that Evans was better now and with Rubio tho maybe there was a chance he'd be better down the line.

Im a strong believer in Petrie when it comes to everything minus free agents. But i especially believe in his draft judgement... and so the fact that like someone else said he had the choice between the 2 and choice Evans... I think that sealed the deal for me... Evans will clearly be the right choice.

Sure maybe 5 years from now Rubio could be better... but thats just a chance and FREAKN 5 YEARS... screw that...

for all i know Rubio is like brandon jennings said "ALL HYPE" he certianly isn't a super athlete and maybe he game doesn't translate over here against the big super athletes...???... who knows Rubio was pretty hyped for just showing flashes. I guess we'll just have to wait and see with him...

but Evans I think will come in here be a vocal leader, (that people can understand) and just smash people on offense and defense while looking to create for the team... I think we will all be more than over Rubio the next 3-5 years.

I love what Petrie did in this draft especially getting Rodriguez from Portland. He still has not shown all of his potential because he's been in the doghouse under Nate McMillain. Also, he was known as the Spanish Magician coming into draft so no need to be bummed about not drafting a guard who cannot pass.
