The New Orleans situation in a nutshell

#1
The following is a well done summation of what the situation boils down to in New Orleans. I mentioned on another thread recently that I used to belong to this site and the Harvey guy who is making these posts is pretty well dialed in. He is the inside source guy on the site and is in good with the higher ups in the Hornet organization.

That being said, he has been wrong before. For example, him and his sources were pretty much certain that Gary Chouest was buying the Hornets and that fell apart. What may look good now for New Orleans may completely fall apart in the near future. In fact, that has been the MO down there since the NBA returned after a 23 year absence after the Jazz left and after the return from OKC after Katrina.

As to why I'm posting it here on a Sacramento Kings forum, I just think that the 2 situations are relative. If there are potential relocation sites that the Maloofs are considering, there's always the shot that the NBA gets to the point where they conclude that the future of the Hornets in New Orleans is a no go. From there, they will look to potential relocation cities for the team, cities that may very well be on the Maloof's radar and if they are no longer an option, it could buy Sacramento just enough time to come up with one last arena proposal. The fact that the league now owns the Hornets makes it easier to facilitate a relocation to a market of their choice. Just a guess on my part though.

OTOH, despite Sacramento being a superior NBA market to New Orleans, it's clear that the league has thrown it's hands up in trying to get something done here. It's completely up to the Mayor and developers at this point. The league WANTS things to work in New Orleans. That's clear by the link I'm providing. The big question is whether or not they CAN make it work. Big difference.
