The Birdman is back!

DENVER (AP)—The Denver Nuggets brought back Chris Andersen, signing the frontcourt player known as “Birdman” on Thursday.
Andersen was reinstated by the NBA in early March after being kicked out on Jan. 27, 2006, for violating the league’s drug policy.
The 6-foot-10, 228-pound Andersen played in five games for the New Orleans Hornets last season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.8 rebounds a game.

The kid can board, and I hope he stays clean when playing in the NBA.. What he does after he's through with the league is his own business. It was just pot right? bleh...

So that's why they let Camby go for nothing. Now I feel silly for mocking them. Clearly this was all part of some master plan. Nuggets as champions in '09! You saw it here first!

It was just pot right? bleh...

No, it was more.

I saw an interview with Andersen when he was about to be reinstated by the NBA and join the Hornets where he admitted it was NOT performance-enhancing substances or pot that got him banned. He would not say exactly what it was, but admitted he was at one point in his NBA career taking various drugs and drinking way too much alcohol. The Birdman claimed he was now completely clean and no longer a drug addict or alcoholic which was his previous blitzed state of mind.

Josh Howard? Is that you?

On a serious note, the last thing I remember about this guy is him making a fool of himself in the dunk contest, trying one dunk like 37 times. Good hustle player though, kinda like Mark Madsen but can block shots

I dont see him being as good without the drugs. Some drugs just make you better at basketball, ask Shawn Kemp, Michael Jordan, Spreewell, Artest, or keyris "thebirdman" andersen. Greg pop, and Phil Jackson, specifically phil.

I heard it was amphetamines, but anyway, good if he's clean. I remember the dunk contest too, but at least he missed the dunks trying some pretty crazy stuff.

Several NBA players have drawn five-game suspensions in recent years for violating the league's marijuana rule, but Andersen tested positive for a "drug of abuse" -- defined as amphetamines (and their derivatives), cocaine, opiates, PCP and LSD -- and was subject to a harsher penalty.

Andersen has never publicly said which drug he tested positive for, and league and union officials are prohibited under collective bargaining rules from disclosing that information.
