Sad to say,
I'm now officially a Bulls/Wade Fan.... I have been a Bulls fan since the MJ days and a Kings fan since JWill arrived...

But right now, my joy, passion, excitement and watching Kings basketball is suddenly fading away, and I know deep down, I no longer like/love this new Kings! And that is the fact!

I willl still be here, visiting this board, predicting Kings game (damn I missed 2 straight games now) reading all your opinions, etc....

I'll say it again, Thanks for the memories Kings......

I'll surely miss the old Kings, Bobby, Bibby and Pedja....Good Luck in the playoffs Kings.....

GO Bulls! GO Heat! Hehehe
Don't let the virtual door hit ya where the good lord split ya!

That's pretty common for fans from outside the geographical area. I used to like the old 80's Chicago Bears. By the early 90's the swagger and intimidation was done, Sweetness was long gone etc., and there was just no real reason to follow the random teams which followed.
Where the heck is "Najville" anyway?

In all fairness to nAj jAn, I believe he lives at least one continent away. That could explain why, to him, the bond for the Kings isn't the same...

Surprising coming From Naj who is a pretty much a regular around here... oh well the first of many. Maybe I will be able to get some season tickets after all...

KP - nAj isn't really a regular. He/she primarily only posted in the prediction game threads and other fantasy threads. (I checked...) Actual discussions about the Kings themselves were pretty limited.

I know I had more than a few discussions with Naj, But I guess it really doesn't matter at this point huh?

I guess not. I am still totally puzzled, however, as to why someone would come and announce they were getting off the bandwagon...

Very odd.

You're right. I went back and looked further and while lately he had really slowed down, he used to be pretty active in a variety of threads.

I'm sorry his passion for the Kings dissolved for whatever reason. Maybe, just maybe, the NEW Kings will be able to rekindle it for him.

I don't get that either. maybe just the need for "closure". But what would I know - I think it would be easier for me to cut off my hand than to stop being a Kings fan...

Wow! Although I understand the responses of the majority of our members, I just want to say that I also feel badly for nAj jAn.

It is obvious to me that nAj jAn does not like the Kings because he/she is from Sacramento. You call nAj jAn a bandwagon fan, yet he admitted to following the Kings when jWill became a King. That is when the Kings really really really became a blast to watch. Remember the excitement that young man brought to our team? Well, even when JWill left, the Kings remained a fun team. We had Yoda and the Princeton offense. How can you not love that motion offense?

So, apparently, nAj jAn stayed on even after JWill left. But, for whatever reason, the fun for nAj jAn is now gone. Nowhere is it mentioned that nAj jAn is switching allegiance because of our win/loss record.....or because we are losing to teams we should be beating. It sounds like, for nAj jAn, the thrill is gone.

I love the game of basketball. While I love the Kings, I love the game itself even more. Because of that, I hope that, for me, the thrill is never gone. I feel badly for you, nAj jAn, but as a fellow basketball lover, I wish you well.

I actually saw Warriors jersey at work worn "Kings Fans" on my staff. When I asked about it, I was told that they had always been a Warriors fan. The week prior, the same person indicated how exciting it was to be a Kings fan after the changes.

yea a lot of the kings fans in the bayarea, and even some in the sac area, are ex warrior fans...from the run t.m.c days, when they had webber for a year....i wasnt old enough to recall, but i hear they were a blast to watch, and the arena used to be rockin

He doesn't like the new KINGS. A lot of them may not be here next year,as a fan you have to accept change, and that is the fact, like it or not.I do believe that things happen for a reason, alot of times change is a good thing, even when we don,t see it at first, time has a way of bringing it into focus.A true FAN doesn't bail out because he don't like some of the team, seams like he had another team that had the majority of his heart. If your not a fan then your not a fan,but i think i would just slip out the back door, instead of a formal annoncement,

good luck and rock on my brother!!!!!!!!!!!:D

considering im from nj everyone would believe i'd have to be a nets or knicks fan. that sure as he double hockey sticks is not the case for me. i'm a kings fan no matter what happens b/c i enjoy watching this team play with the huge heart each player possesses. i dont care what anyone thinks about them. they may be called the queens or the black dog of the nba or even whiners but i dont care b/c this is my team. we have all seen our share of stars come and go but that doesn't mean we go and jump with the next best team. i'm committed to this team as a fan. while i wish we could somehow have a team of bibby j-will pedja webber and vlade all together but we obviously can't.

while i may not be right there with most of you in Sacramento, i still love this team even though i'm all the way over on the other coast. What other board has this many people unite as a family? None of them have one even close to ours.

Like brick said, every team has its ups and downs. these times test us as fans and help sort out the true fans and the followers.

While what i may be saying may not make any sense to these "bandwagon" fans. I know everyone here feels the way i do for this team and it will never fade. We all bleed purple black and silver every game.

I'm just a freakin' NBA/NFL/MLB fan.

A's first, then Giants, 49er's first, then Ray-duz, King's first, then Warriors

I'm still a Warrior Fan .... been once since the Nate Thurmond days. However, I didn't like them beating our King's.

Geographically, I'm a Kings fan ... and they get my FULL PLEDGED SUPPORT. Having lived up here since '95 ... that's where my hard-earned money goes.

I guess you can call me a "All No-Cal Sports Fan".

I'll always root for C-Webb ... no matter what colors he's wearing.
I root for the Wizards cause of Antwan and Gilbert. But, when our King's play them ... I obviously root for our King's.
One of the weirdest ones was when Owens, Richmond and Marculonis went from the Warriors to the King's or from the King's to the Warriors.
I'm gonna have a heckuva time with all the A's pitchers that were traded to other teams.

I know, I'm rambling here ... but, you're right VF .... openly admitting being a Bandwagon Fan. I don't think I've ever given up or completely abandoned a player or team because of performance (or lack of).
That pretty much fits my description to... a Nor-Cal Sports fan (damn dodgers, angels and lakers) ... Im just glad I can chant "Beat LA" whether im at a Giants or Kings game. :) I liked the 49ers when i was real young but I dont like their management and how they go about buisness. I am a die hard Kings fan forever and always have been. I still enjoy watching Warriors basketball and root for them, unless they are playing the Kings because they are simple 20 minutes away. But of course... the Ray-duz... lol One of the best offenses in the league this next year. Yall' watch... playoffs here we come. Little off topic but...

I dont like fair weather fans and its clear this man was one of them. Have fun rooting for the Heat. Wonder if he was a heat fan before the 2003-04 season. DOUBT IT!

GO KINGS!!!

Agreed. And if someone is going to come here and announce they're leaving to become Bulls-Heat fans, then they have to anticipate and perhaps even want the responses they KNOW will follow... you know the old saying, "If you don't want the horns, don't mess with the bull."

This is what I am talking about. The team is struggling and here he is saying that he is an ex-kings fan. He is just one of the many fans that started to like the kings when they started to win games. He is not one of the true fans. By true fans I mean the ones that stuck when them when THE ROCK, Spud Webb, wayman tisdale, duane causwell used to run the court for the kings. I know there are many of you that were fans when Reggie Theus, Ricky Berry were players here but I was still a baby during that time so my first memories were of Spud. I remember when you could go to a game and by the third quarter walk down and sit in the lower level. In a way I am thankful that these bandwagon fans are leaving because it is these fans that are taking up all of the tickets that we the TRUE kings fans rightfully deserve.

Uhm, May I add to that. I was a fan since I was born, literally. Although when my dad started taking me to games at the age of 5, all I remember were guys in blue uniforms who looked like ants from our seats. I've never really acknowledged the Rock or Spud Webb. The only players I remember were Bobby Hurley, Kenny Smith, and probably Danny Ainge. I started really looking at the players when I was about 10 or 11. When Corliss, Jason, and Chris started getting into the picture. Now that I'm 15, I've come to realize that our team had changed. Some say for the worst, to others the better. We've been though our ups and downs, but that's what a true fan really means. It's about loyalty. Some of you haven't been a fan for quite a long time like 10 years or such, but it doesn't demote you of having a "true fan status" or anything. By my definition, a true fan is one who has loyalty and trust in their team. Playing basketball since 1st-8th grade and Summer Ball in high school made me realize that the game is a TEAM effort. Our teams had our ups and downs. But what I realized that when a team is down, it only takes one person to make a difference. Whether it's cheering for a team until the last buzzer sounds off, to supporting the players. Not only is it sad, but it's heartbreaking to see that just because their favorite player or the whole team changed, they have to change their so-called fan status. Stick with the team through it's ups and downs, you never know what will happen in the future.

I'm not from anywhere in particular due to the fact that I'ma navy brat. I've never been loyal to any of the teams of the area's that I'v lived in. Of course being from the surrounding area of a team matters but what I think really makes a loyal fan is a person's ability to commit to something through good times and bad. Maybe Naj just has no will power.

He is entitled to his opinion. Quite frankly, if he wants to proclaim to the world that he's a bandwagon fan, that's on him.
Good call. That way when he comes crawling back next season it will be that much better.

6th I agree with you wholeheartedly....a common misconception is that people who are disillusioned with a team are automatically "bandwagon" fans. While it may be easy for many citizens of Sacramento to be Kings fans through thick and thin - people from far away have it very differently. Take me for example...I'm a New Jersey native from all the way across the country so I grew up watching the Knicks for the most part. I was an immensely loyal fan to them until I saw and truly liked what the Kings brought to the table. However my sudden fascination with the Kings had nothing to do with the winning or losing of either the Kings or the Knicks...it was just that it was a style that I had never seen b4 - a style I really enjoyed. I still consider myself a Knicks fan although for the last 6 years or so my true loyalty remained with the Kings. After all my favorite players have left the Kings (Christie and Webber) it does feel kind of strange to look at the Kings. To me, though, the Kings are the only team. But maybe for Naj Jan...things were different with the players and the roster - in other words they weren't the players he had came to love. In my opinion, that certainly isn't something to get all worked up about.

I have been a King's fan for many years. I grew up in South Carolina, lived in Florida for a few years, and now live in Louisiana. I was a fan before we even had winning seasons. Don't ask me how a girl from the southeast became a diehard fan of a team form the northwest, but it happened. In fact my vacation this year is going to be going to Sac to see MY Kings play in Arco. What I have learned is that a person is only a true TEAM fan when you hang in there in the tough times. You can be a fan of the game or individual players and change allegiences, but a REAL fan sticks it out in the rough patches. I LOVE being a King's fan. I honestly feel sorry for fans of other teams. Let the bandwagon fans roll with the tide. The rest of you, hold on tight. Petrie will right this ship. Your always stronger after a storm!

I find it funny that the guy hasn't posted at all in response. He was never a TRUE Kings fan...because Kings fans are a unique breed. He sounds like most of the brand new "Pistions fans" around here in Detroit. Heh...don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Sorry, but the way we are crucifying nAj jAn, I don't blame him for not responding, that is if he has even been back on the board.

I realize that this concept is foreign to most of us. However, as the Goodwill Ambassador, I must say that none of us are "perfect" fans. Yes, I am a bit perplexed why someone would come on and "announce" their switch in allegiance, but I cannot, in good conscience, berate him for it. Let he/she who is without sin...

6th - I have to disagree. We aren't crucifying him and he's been around message boards long enough to know that if he's going to come here and post a "farewell" address proclaiming he's no longer a fan, then some people aren't going to be happy about it.

Sorry, but he could have simply left. When he decided to start a thread to talk about his disillusionment, etc. he left the door open for people to respond.
