Surprised the Kings aren't in the CP3 talks

Stern wants young talent back for CP3 and who has more young talent than the Kings! That got me thinking what a trade like that might look like. Maybe Tyreke and Hickson plus next year's draft pick. That would give NO lots of nice young talent and the Kings the best PG in the league. I for one would do that trade pretty quickly assuming he signed at least a two year extension. How about you?

Im happy to ride it out with Tyreke. Any deal we do with CP3 would have to involve him because it wouldnt work out on court if we somehow kept him here and moved him over to the 2. In any case if you make this happen our backcourt is thornton and CP3 - the same combo that didnt workout in NO

That's a fair point but it's a different team here.

I'm not surprised at all. I think Petrie knows that Paul wouldn't sign an extension here so he won't even bother. While CP3 is a superstar player, I'm inclined to ride it out with our duo because we've sucked for a while to get players that have potential like 13 and 15 do...now it's just hoping that both can put it together enough to help us become a consistent playoff team.

They said the same thing about C-Webb.

Paul will walk in 60 games, so any deal that will be made would have to include him signing an extension, which he won't do.

The two players are in totally different situations. Webber wasn't a top 10 player in the league, he wasn't a franchise player in Washington, he was struggling a bit regarding winning the past few years, and he had more than 60 games to make up his mind of what he wanted to do with his career after arriving in Sac. The reason he re-signed is because his career had a resurgence here, and he saw a place where he could win as the #1 guy, with a team he liked, and get paid a huge contract while doing it. Paul, however, is already in his prime at his apex of performance and popularity, is a franchise player and arguably top 5 player in the league, and has no interest in staying with a rebuilding team. He doesn't need a home to revive his career, he wants to win and do it in a place he wants.

Webber also wasn't traded for a young potential star player. As much as I like Richmond, he was on the downside of his career when the trade was made. Not nearly as big of a risk.
