I believe the Steelers will win. Now of course, I may have just given them the kiss of death, since my picks have been pretty crappy. They must now beat the Seahawks and my jinx. :p

Much in the same way I thought the Bears Defense was vastly overrated based on their opponents this season, I think the Seahawks aren't nearly the juggernaught their stats would suggest. I don't think the Steelers went through all the trouble of beating the 3rd (Bengals), 1st (Colts) and 2nd (Broncos) seeds on the road just to lose to the Seahawks on neutral ground.

Well, I don't like football, and don't care about either team, but my ex-wife is from the Pittsburgh area, and will be rooting for the Steelers hard, so I guess that means I'm against them.

Oddsmakers picking Steelers to win close Super Bowl

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Oddsmakers are betting the Bus will keep rolling through Motown.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, their bruising 13-year veteran NFL running back, emerged as 3½- to 4-point favorites Sunday as Las Vegas sportsbooks picked the Steelers to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

"Seattle's going to have their hands full," Bob Scucci, sportsbook director at the Stardust, said after Pittsburgh's 34-17 win over the Denver Broncos. Scucci made the AFC champion Steelers 4-point favorites even before the Seahawks finished off the Carolina Panthers, 34-14, in the NFC title game.

The teams will meet Feb. 5 in Detroit.

"Seattle was expected to win," Scucci said. "Pittsburgh went through the one, two, and three seeds, and a lot of people think the AFC from top-to-bottom was a lot better conference than the NFC."

Las Vegas Sports Consultants and Jay Kornegay, race and sportsbook director at the Las Vegas Hilton, also made the Steelers 4-point favorites, with the over-under line set between 47½ and 49 points. The over-under lets bettors put money on whether the teams combine to score more or less than that amount. Initial odds often change as bookmakers weigh the money bettors put on one team or the other.

Robert Walker, sportsbook director for 13 MGM Mirage casinos in Nevada, cited Pittsburgh's victories over the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and the Broncos to get to the NFL championship.

He made the Steelers 3½ point favorites in what he called "an intriguing matchup," and set the over-under line at 47½.

"It's fun to have a couple of new teams in for a change," Walker said. "Seattle's fun to watch and Pittsburgh was ultra-impressive."

I hate both teams. Really hate the hawks and really hate the steelers.

BUT I have to root for the Steelers in this case. The bus was great at ND and I have always liked him. I would like to see him get a ring before he retires.

I chose the Seahawks but only because I have a true hatred for the Steelers. Reasons I will withhold for chance I might offend some people, but do I really think the Seahawks will win? Hmmm... it will be a close one anyway.

The big day draws nearer... with this poll at 25-8 Steelers its no secret who is favored in this. Seattle can pull off a great upset. Can't wait for the game and some bar-b-que.

*Ahem* and I did predict the Bucs would beat the Raiders a few years back, and I believe I was in the great minority.

The Raiders didn't just get beat, they got their ***es handed to em.

My heart says 'Hawks since Mike Holmgren is a former Niner - Walsh disciple but there's an old saying that you have to learn how to lose before you can win. Not sure if this applies since none of the current Steeler players have been to the big show but the team has a good record....20 years ago.

I really don't like or dislike either team. However, I have to go with the Hawks for selfish reasons. I am a long time Niner fan and it is getting a little crowded in the 'One For the Thumb' club. The Niners and the Cowboys do not need any more company in this elite club. .
