Suns/Lakers

16to93

Bench
The game is today at 3:30 PM eastern time. For those who want the seventh seed the Lakers will have to lose one of their two remaining games (most likely this one because their next oponent is NOOK), and the Kings will have to win out. I read in another thread that the Suns will be playing without Steve Nash and Raja Bell. I really don't know which way the game will go because the Suns really have nothing to play for (unless of course they lose on purpose because they don't want to face the Kings in the first round):D !

Go Suns!!!!!

The Suns really do not want to face the Kings in the first round. While they will not blatantly throw the game, they certainly can sit their best players. Oh look! That is what they seem to be doing.

almost game time. i doubt the lakers lose. the suns took care of business by whooping us and now they won't have to play us. unless we win out and by some miracle the lakers lose.

nash has to win mvp after this game.... the suns are getting killed 10-1 to start the game...

well remember what the suns record was before they had nash? i think they won 25 games with marion and stoudemire. add nash to that and you get 35 more wins. i'd say that's pretty valuable.

How many games do you guys think Sacto would/will win against SA?

i'm stil hoping that the lakers lose to no/ok. but it looks like the suns have no respect for LA and would rather play them than play us. but to answer your question, 1 maybe 2.

The Lakers look funny. I'm not used to seeing them in the white home jerseys.

I really wish the Suns had a full complement of players on the court today. Giving the Lakers this kind of game when you may well be facing them next week just isn't a good idea IMHO.

Suns are down by 11 with 1:44 to go in the first, but as we Kings know the Suns are never out of it.........

(even if they had Nash in that game)

i doubt the lakers get alot of confidence knowing that the league's mvp is on the bench not to mention another starter. besides the suns are doing this on purpose. they shot 80% the other day so they wouldn't have to play us. they know they couldn't do that to us again!!;)

This is a joke. I never thought I'd see a team try to throw a game. They clearly want to play the lakers in the playoffs. They sat Belle and Nash down?? I didn't hear why, but it's probably a lame, "We're resting them for the playoffs" excuse. Total loss of respect for that team.

so gargamel i ask you how many games you think the lakers will win against phx??

Pheonix basically chooses their opponent in this game. And by sitting 3/5ths of their line up for no reason, they choose lakers. Hopefully the Hornets can help us out.

If the Lakers weren't thinking about mind games, getting a leg up, etc. they'd have Kobe sitting on the bench.

They don't and Phil Jackson is earnestly telling them to keep their feet on the throats of the Suns.

A blowout in Staples by the Lakers puts doubt into the minds of the Suns, regardless of how many players they have sitting out and resting. Have you seen the look on Steve Nash's face? He is NOT a happy camper. A win by the Suns today would have shown the Lakers they are vulnerable at home. Instead, their dominance in Staples is being reiterated. Not a good thing.

The idea the Suns shot 80% just so they wouldn't have to face us in the playoffs is weak. The Suns shot 80% because they could. They aren't worried about first round matchups anywhere near as much as we would like or hope for them to be. They know who the true powerhouses of the West are. We may give a good fight but we are not one of those teams who instill fear and dread in opponents. Not yet, anyway...

To get to those power houses you have to go through the first round. Over the series of this year between phoenix and the lakers, and phoenix and the kings, the lakers one has been much easier. Even if the Kings were to lose they'd make it much tougher. The suns would have to work harder and the series would get stretched out. They might not have cared a week ago, but since they did come back and beat us, why not get the easier of the two.

They know the Kings need the Lakers to lose one, and Phoenix was the best shot at that. They ARE choosing their first round opponent, and they are laying off on this game. Believe it or not.

Nash may not be happy, but it's because he got sat this game, and he knows why. He's a competitor.

I agree with why Nash isn't happy. He doesn't like sitting there watching a team he KNOWS they could beat humiliate his Suns.

And while I agree the Suns are putting their chips on the Lakers spot on the board, I don't think the players wanted to do it. D'Antoni is taking a big chance. Having a team tank this late in the year just doesn't send a good message to your players, IMHO.

Primarily my comments were about how the Suns played against us, not the joke that's currently going on in Staples.

Oh I don't think the players chose it. It was from the top down.

why would the lakers bench kobe? they're still trying to make the playoffs. besides the suns have already beaten the lakers at staples by double digits this year. the suns have won all three games against the lakers by a total of 40 points. this game means nothing to the suns.

and the 80% thing was sort of a joke hence the wink. but i don't think the suns have shot 80% in a half ever.

actually playing your mvp when you've already wrapped up your playoff position is taking a big chance.
