From Hoopshype:

"This year's bench will include Grant, Burke, Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa and Scott Padgett. Jones could be acquired in a sign and trade with Indiana and a Finley signing may make Jim Jackson a reserve.

Colangelo said the staff "feels like we've dramatically improved our team. I know a lot of people don't think that's the case right now. We're taking a step forward. We're going to keep building this thing. We're definitely not only going to be just as competitive as last year but we're going to strive to win that championship these guys are talking about." He said the key to judging these Suns won't come in aspiring to last season's 62 wins. It will be how well prepared they are for the playoffs because they have become a deeper team. He alluded to how Johnson's facial fracture altered the team's approach during last season's playoffs."

deeper? better? i'm not sure i'd hang my hat on that bench. granted their core is still quite potent (but a steve nash injury away from less than mediocre), there's no one off that bench other than bell who's a steady contributor. that might change if they're able to get finley, but it looks like detroit and miami are the favorites on that sweepstakes.

better chance for the kings to take the pacific.

Suns getting James Jones? I don't think so at all, he wants more than 1-1.7 million dollars and a multi-year deal, according to his agent. Who would the Pacers want that the Suns have? Jim Jackson? That'd be trading away their best guy off the bench, and a guy who was big for them in the playoffs. Barbosa? I doubt they'd trade away their only other player with any kind of point skills, and who's still developing. I never even heard of the Suns being interested till reading he was a target at hoopshype in Phoenix's section of FA market. Plus I'd be kinda jealous. ;)

I doubt they'll be getting Finley with Miami/Detroit/Nuggets in the running. So, Raja Bell won't be coming off the bench.
