Stockton Kings Head Coach Bobby Jackson joining Nick Nurse’s staff in Philadelphia

Well, this is a bit of a surprise. I kind of thought Bobby was going to be a lifer in the organization. Maybe he sensed the door closing on the head coaching job here and is still hoping to move up the coaching ladder, perhaps he thought he could do that better elsewhere.

Best of luck to him, of course!

I mean, it sucks to lose Bobby but I’m also very happy for him.

it’s a higher position and there has to be a certain level of validation to get recruited from a reputable coach like Nurse from outside of the Kings organization that has employed Bobby in several different capacities over the years.

It tells Bobby that the league has finally taken notice.

Bobby has served as an assistant for multiple Kings coaches and then the G league team. I think this is probably the first time he’s been the choice of the head coach or general manager rather than added to a coaching staff by the organization because he was a beloved player for that org.

So, I’m most definitely happy for B-Jax

This could very easily set back the development aspect of this franchise. Good for Bobby, he's a future HC if all is right. He's got it.

It's a good move for Bobby. There didn't appear to be a place for him as an assistant with Brown. Now Brown can have direct input into who he wants for the HC of the G league team. Probably a win for all concerned.
This is the reality. It's not like Doug who was an assistant. Bobby was a head coach (albeit G League) - so he probably needs to be a lead assistant or associate head coach for it to be a true promotion where NBA Head Coach is next. Possibly if Jordi had left he would stay, but also he was one of a few guys Brown didn't hand pick. I've heard from the Vivek is cheap crowd on Twitter questioning why we didn't give him a raise or promotion, but Brown already has his hierarchy. My guess is that Jordi, Loucks and Jay are the top 3 guys, with Jordi and Loucks first and second in line to be poached respectively.
