I'll take it a bit further, with all due respect to Kings fans which I've been one for 40 years. Too many fans go giddy every time some mediocre talent or want-to-be star added to the roster. Loser mentality. Kings will continue to go languish NBA no mans land until they get legit superstar or two of them. Their make shift roster of misfit pieces won't cut it and Coach DC defense identity so far a disaster. Maybe it's just Kings fans fate to live with a franchise full of mediocrity and misery.

Life’s pretty good in Philly these days. I’ve passed the shoe throwing baton to my wife during the games (she has over taken me as the biggest eagles fan in the house)

Right now, the only player in whose performance I'm interested in is Devin. Unfortunately, he won't get meaningful playing time, so it's a pointless desire.

We all have a fair idea of Keon's capabilities. Worse, given our dysfunction, I wouldn't be too surprised if he signs elsewhere. Nique will get his chance, particularly given how thin we are on the wings.

Devin has that dog in him. He takes pride in his defense. In his limited minutes, he has had, he has a net +-. I know it's not a very reliable stat, and we need to see if he can replicate that in extended minutes against other teams' stars. However, in the general doom and gloom, this is a rare ray of hope. I would like to see him get major minutes with a focus on defense, particularly when we are playing a guard focused team (Reaves/SGA).

Outside the beam team season, I'm pretty sure there must be an unwritten rule that it has to be at least 70% negative at all times here. It's like when dogs go roll around in the mud, not sure why they do it and it's messy, but they seem to have fun doing it

In my opinion it’s usually at around 30 percent, it’s the main reason I come here for Kings talk because all other sources (Reddit, twitter/x, sports radio chat etc) are probably like what you said 70 percent or higher. Lately the forum has skewed more negative (for the most part it’s understandable). It will come back around like it always does but this is going to be a trying season.

Sometimes when it’s too hot in here, watching the game and the Deuce and Mo show after does the trick as they do a nice job of blending purple colored glasses, criticism, therapy and at least sprinkle in a few laughs.

Admittedly, I was being a tad hyperbolic. I do return here because it's the most sane version of sources, as you said. Still, early season and offseason are the worst times around here.

Hard not to be. The product is odious. The philosophy is, as well. However, if Scott Perry is a seller by the trade deadline and is able to flip some of these over-the-hill veterans for draft compensation, signaling that the Kings are planning something that resembles a rebuild, I think the majority of this forum will be pretty happy. But there's just so little to root for right now.

I respect that some have no problem cheering for every win regardless of who's in a Kings uni, but I just can't bring myself to invest in this iteration of the roster when so many of these aging veterans will be cut loose in the next season or two. One way or another, rebuild or not, guys like Westbrook, DeRozan, Schroder, and LaVine are not long for this team. That's probably the case for Sabonis, as well, who seems both injured and miserable out there. Oh, and that's Christie's current starting five, by the way, none of whom represent pieces of any kind of long-term vision.

If we get draft picks, we have to do better than Marvin Bagley or Thomas Robinson, etc. Picking up Clifford gives me hope that Perry knows what he is doing.

As Turgenev pointed out in the OKC game thread, with respect to his "connective passes," Carter seems to function as a "glue guy." Every team needs a couple of players like that.

Is it? There's a whole lot of excluded middle ground between looking at the team through purple-colored glasses and being negative. Negativity is a choice.

I've been around long enough to remember the Graffiti Board (the spiritual predecessor to this message board) and what discourse was like before even start of the Adelman era. A seemingly inexorable slog through losing season after losing season, watching draft pick after draft pick fail to live up to expectations, and fans still found something to look forward to, and things to be optimistic about... It's like people forgot that griping about everything and commiserating in misery doesn't actually have to be the purpose of an online community.

And hopefully in time we get to see Carter, Keon, Nique, Keegan, and Maxime take the wheel. That's a fun team on paper. Carter needs shots at some point, he can be more than just a role guy. As for his shooting, shooting is typically a skill. He shot well in college, shot well in the G league, and apparently shoots well in practice. If Kevin Huerter struggles taking 3 shots a game anyone will. It's common sense. Give these young guys some reps, please universe! lol.

Not just here but in general, I’ve found that people would rather be mean on the internet than deal with their mental health.

It’s fair for people on this forum who tend to be all in fans and not casuals to be negative towards this product this year.

Before Perry took over, this was an undersized team.
We actually got smaller and older during his short tenure and if we are being honest, less talented.
Less talented because the PG is on the downside of his career and another ball dominant guard with not that small of a contract
But that wasn’t enough, we doubled down with an even older vet PG who still brings that it factor but at the expense of taking most minutes away from the young defensive guards
Went from JVal to Eubanks…..wtf was that.
Did draft a potential star player in Nique and we can only hope he is given the chance to be that with big minutes. Like it’s about the only hope this team has unless you add in Ellis and Carter. Keegan is a given

The Lavine Derozan mix really didn’t work last year and they get theirs but we are wasting a whole half year at best of development in young guys and probably more because we may not be able to move those vets.

It’s supposed to be a gap year but that usually means playing the young guys and we are doing the opposite. This shizz doesn’t make sense unless it’s stealth tank by Perry.

Many of us who frequently disagree are finding ourselves in fairly robust agreement about how bad this iteration of the Kings' roster is, and how poorly it reflects on the organization's ability to build for the future without a strong pivot by the trade deadline. Some may see "negativity", but I see a passionate fanbase airing out some pretty justified consternation over some pretty obvious franchise missteps.

Yeah, there's no counting stats so far and he's had a few ugly turnovers, but he's moved the ball quick and had a few really nice reads as a playmaker.

Which, right now, is fine. We have plenty of dudes who can generate counting stats/offense. We have exactly 1 healthy guy who can play defense/stay out of the on offense like he does.

Yeah and I think most are aligning on a general direction that permanently targeting they play-in is not the path. We have all seen other teams get worse and better while we have largely remained static.

This year is going to suck. We all know it’s going to suck. It’s merely a question of how bad and is it bad enough we can at least gain hope about a new player.
