Spurs vs. Nuggets - Game 3

Starter
Nuggets off to a good start with a 10-3 lead, although Andre Miller just missed two free throws.

Duncan with a bucket to pull the Spurs to within 10-5, but Duncan just picked up his second foul in the first quarter.

Hopefully this will be a good game akin to the Dallas vs. Houston game. I'd like to see the Nuggets win, but I'd be happy with a good game either way.

Nuggets up 19-15 with 2 minutes left in the first, but they haven't really taken advantage of Duncan's absence after he picked up his second foul.

Nuggets' radio announcer also commenting on how Nuggets aren't getting benefit of the calls.

Still, this game shaping up to be a good one.

Nuggets down 7 in the third, and Ginobli is just killing the Nuggets. Duncan has not played his usual amount due to foul trouble, but the Nuggets have not been able to take advantage. Neither team shooting free throws terribly well.

Duncan 2 for 9 at this point in the game. Nuggets will be kicking themselves if they don't win this game with Duncan's subpar performance.

It's not that I have anything against the Spurs, because I don't really. And, with Duncan healthy I recognize they should be among the favored to win the title. But, dang, why do the refs have to help them? The vast majority of announcers are so pro Spurs that it is nauseating. And the refs....well, let's just say that they should still make the Spurs earn it. Poor Nuggets and Nuggets fans.......I feel for them. They just can't catch a break from the refs.

Nuggets have cut the lead to 3 at 59 - 56 in the third quarter, as the Nuggets defense has turned up the intensity. Parker on the bench with 4 fouls at this point.

Nuggets with the ball down 3.

Carmelo settles for a jumper and misses, Rasho answers with a jumper on the other end to push the lead back up to 5.

Greg Buckner is taking too many shots in this second half --- he's taken two jumpers with chances to slice the lead, and he's not coming anywhere close to hitting. There are much better shooters on the Nuggets than that guy.

Nuggets still down 4, 65-61, with 9 minutes left in the 4th.

Spurs scored 11 in the 3rd quarter, Nuggets scored 17. Painful.

Nuggets just get hosed on an offensive foul call with a chance to tie the game, Spurs score a basket to push the lead to 4, then Horry steals the inbounds pass and nails a jumper, so lead to 6.

Edit: horry nailed a three to push the lead to 7, then came down on the next possession and hit another 3. Say what you will about Horry, but "Big Shot Rob" is certainly a fitting moniker for that guy.

That's just against the Kings. He hit big shot after big shot for the Rockets' title teams, and he did the same for the Lakers. Now he's doing it for the Spurs (dangit).

side note: Duncan is having a pretty crappy game

Duncan is having a terrible game, and the Nuggets are completely wasting the opportunity with careless turnovers, not to mention getting hosed over by the refs (at least according to the Nuggets' play-by-play radio guy).

Nuggets cut the lead to 3 with under 3 minutes to go, and the defense has really picked up on both ends of the floor (from the sound of it). Nuggets need a stop here.

Side note: Nuggets just barely shooting over 50% from the free throw line, Spurs shooting at 60%. If Nuggets just make some free throws, they'd have a much better shot in this game.

50% free throw shooting isnt helping the nuggets either...... i think they are 14 for 28 or something close to that

read my mind... LOL

Carmelo heads to the line for 2 free throws, and only makes 1 of 2. Nuggets shoot 80% from the free throw line over the last three months of the season, and shoot just over 50% tonight.

Ginobli knocks in a three, Spurs up 7 now. Manu with a career playoff high of 29 tonight.

Martin heads to the line...query: how does a guy with Martin's athleticism only have 2 rebounds in a game like this?...Kenyon shockingly makes both free throws. Nuggets down 5.

Parker misses a jumper. 1:16 left in the game, Nuggets basketball. Too bad the Nuggets have no good three point shooters...

Boykins misses a jumper...Parker loses the ball out of bounds, but refs give the ball to the Spurs, and Duncan nails a jumper to push the lead to 5.

Miller bricks a three with no offensive movement, that's probably game right there. Nuggets shouldn't sleep tonight after giving this game away. Refs calls probably didn't help.

Melo adds a flagrant foul to the end of the game, and gets ejected. Quality.

That was such a dirty move by Melo. Everything I hated about him before, his aarogance, his play, is nothing compaired to what he just did on top of that.

He can't play D, he is aarogant, he plays dirty... any 1 of these things does not bother me, but all together is a recipie for deserving my utter distaste for him prolly for eternity.

that was a dirty move but i dont think hes a dirty player.... he just let the stress get to him

^^ it was on over and over again (because espnnews shows their reruns for hours) on espnnews. i didn't see it, though. i was listening on espnradio, that's why i know. i didn't bother to watch it on espnnews cause, eh, i don't really care.
