Spurs = The New Lakers?

Feels as if every year their is a new team that the referees favor. I think this game showed that becoming reality. There were 14 fouls called on the Spurs and 26 on the Kings. Didn't Kerr say the Spurs usually beat teams by 11 or so points? Seems like they get 11 more calls go their way as well.

well with the old lakers gone, the refs needed someone *** to kiss..... at least it isnt the twolves or suns....
 
Normally I don't agree whinning. But I must say the ref in this game was a joke.

We have every right to complain about officating tonight.

GO KINGS!!! Keep your heads up!!!

I agree. Tim Duncan has always been the most protected player but now Ginobili seems to be the one that the refs want to blow. My god he is annoying with his flops and hacks that he gets away with.
 
It was sad how all the calls were going for them... i dont care if they are labeled the best team in the nba, i want to see them in the playoffs ... i just wanna see how good they will be agianst the full Sac-Town roster..

yeah they could have... but only 1 team has won in san antonio this year, and they are the only team to beat them twice this season.... seattle. but at least barnes got some serious playing time and made good use of it.....

The whole problem is that it shouldn't have to be that bad or that obvious. Flubbing a few calls can happen, but there comes a time when you can see it. It looked like to me based on the tape I now have, the Kings were well on their way coming back when bad calls began to ruin whatever flow they had. Could they have played better.....yes.

Part of me should say....yeah the Spurs played well....but it's overshadowed by the one-sidedness of the refs. A shame, but real.

The most unfortunate call of the night was when Kevin had his basket taken away because of Barnes' interference - which on replay CLEARLY didn't happen. When both Kerr and Marv question it before seeing the replay, it sure makes you wonder.

I'm not going to make a big deal about the officiating, however, for the simple reason the Kings hung tough, despite key injuries and a lot of calls/non-calls going against them. It's something the Spurs aren't going to be too happy about.

And TMass just might be in Pop's doghouse for a long time.

that was a lame call ... you could read adelman's lips "be sure if you're going to call it" ... just because you THINK a player touched the ball doesn't mean you SAW it actually happen.

course, barnes should have just kept his hands down & it would be a moot point. but it was a bummer of a call.

For the record I HATE blameing the reffs and whining about bad calls. Good teams should be albe to take the refs out of the game. As for the oficiating of tonights game... Mom always said if you can't say anyting nice don't say anything at all.
 
It sure felt like the King's got beat by the Lakers. Maybe its because the Kings got beat by a better team. Yeah there were some bad and questionable calls, but the Kings got straight beat. When the Kings find their A game it will feel good to finally beat the Spurs. Untill then its not going to feel good playing against them. A "B" game will not ever beat the Spurs and that is what the Kings played tonight.

Well...an ex Laker shot the same amount of free throws as Webber, Miller and Bibby did COMBINED>>>>:eek:
 
grinchwine - Oh please. Yeah, they got beat. Without Pedja, without Evans - who has been huge - and without Webber at least playing anywhere near as well as he has been lately.

You make it sound as though we went out full strength and were just outplayed. That's simply not correct.

It felt like the Kings got beat by the Lakers? That's just silly. The Kings, missing two KEY players, still gave the almighty San Antonio Spurs a pretty blasted good run for the money. I don't feel very bad about tonight's game at all.
 
I always feel bad after a loss, some worse than others. Yeah, the Kings have some injury issues, but you play with what you have. Tonight the Kings got straight beat. Not embarassed, but beat.
 
I wouldn't say they are the new team the refs favor, but they are finally getting the 'respect' from refs of being a top dog that they didn't always get in the past.
 
You know what, I don't think we should be complaining about the calls but man!!! Those were some bad calls. If not bad they were at least inconsistent, Barnes gets a goaltending call on one end and fairly soon after Sean Marks completes an exact duplicate of that play and they call the basket. Did he goaltend....no. But neither did Barnes.

Truth is the Spurs are a bad matchup for the Kings. They play inside out and go inside repeatedly. Tim Duncan will always get the whistle, foul or no foul. When they go inside, a lot of our interior defense relies on trying to strip the ball away from the post player and thats a 75% chance of a foul the way these refs call it.

It seems like the Kings won't be able to score much more than 80-85 points against the Spurs, so we HAVE to beat them with defense. In the game we won, and even tonight for stretches, we have done that. At least thats promising.
 
The Championship respect factor did come into play last night. The refsarent used to the ings playing hard nosed(or attempting to) defense. Thats why the disparigy in the numbers of call, and silly calls. The Kings in 2002-2003 got those callsand they do get those calls against the lesser teams. If the Kings want that respect they have to go get it. Simple isnt it?!;)
 
The Spurs will never be the new Lakers because they're not an arrogant bunch of prima dona's. :)

However, there is no one who can stop them from winning it all this year... (injuries not withstanding).
