Sobering new words from KJ

Really? Where else has he said those words? I haven't seen 'em anywhere.

"No," Johnson said in a city hall interview at almost the exact moment the league released the 2011-12 schedule. "There's not a backup plan because we control our own destiny. In those other scenarios (last season), the Kings were making a choice and we had to react to what they did. Right now, if we build it, then they will stay here. If we can't figure out a way to build it, they're going to potentially leave and I will be back in trying to figure it out. But I've still got to build a facility or nobody's going to come anyway."

These words are from either Tuesday or Wednesday.

What you quoted really isn't news to anyone familiar with the situation. it may be the first time he's said it but it's what we all knew already anyways.

I agree, this article is nothing new...It's pretty common sense really. Kings figure out how to build and fund and arena this year, and if not, then they leave...Kevin has mentioned mentioned that's the case many times b4.
Are the chances extremely high of the Kings leaving after this year? Sure, but there's always that outside slim chance that somewhow it will get done and somehow the millions will show up.

Now matter how slim the chance is, I'm trying to stay positive, but I know it's tough.

Livinthedream said it best. The news coming from this article might be new to those from the national audience, but it's nothing new to us.

We are at a fork in the road and we need to decide which path to take. We either find a way to help build a new downtown entertainment and sports complex for our region which will result in our team, the Sacramento Kings, to stay as well as the many world class events that will continue to come here or...

We don't find a way to make it happen and we can kiss every thing goodbye while we look forward to driving to the Bay Area for our world class events along with no team to call our own.

We must stay positive, educate others on the importance of this project and always believe.

Don't worry about anyone who is totally against this like those on the Bee. You won't change their mind.

I don't believe they even changed the minds of anyone reading their opinions.

Only the loudest voice can influence those who are on the fence with this project.

Sure we're a small market, but we have a BIG heart. Continue to Think BIG Sacramento.

Burkle did not say he wouldn't contribute to a new building. And he certainly ahs tons more money than the Maloofs.

Well, every owner is expected to contribute, but I do remember hearing that he wouldn't build his own arena, as in the entire thing. There was an idea that Burkle would do that when his name came up which was quickly shot down.
