Smoke free update

Way to go 6th!!! I quit for New Year's, here are my most up-to-date stats...(doesn't look like I was quite the chimney you were!!!):

Time Smoke-Free: 3 months, 5 days, 16 hours, 36 minutes and 30 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 1627
Lifetime Saved: 12 days, 10 hours
Money Saved: $326.40

Feels great, doesn't it?? Sooooo glad to be free of that nasty addiction...I can't stand the smell of cigs anymore, myself...although I did smoke one night when I was really drunk...didn't want one in the morning, though. Way to go!!!

Anyone else use quitnet.com or a similar website? That really helped me those first few weeks...I don't know if I could've made it without, actually.

Good job, KingCookie and teamdimechampionship. Good to know there are others out there with me.

How and why did you quit?

I've tried, and I swear that these stupid things are like a security blanket for adults! I just had a biospy on my neck for what they thought may have been lymphoma (pretty scary stuff when you consider that I'm an otherwise healthy and active 25 y.o. male). Thank God that it turned out just to be a reactive lymph node- though I'm not completely out of the forest yet, I've still gotta schedule a follow up sometime later this month.

I'm looking for some thoughts and ideas that perhaps transcend the patch, gums, or the old cold-turkey mainstay... I admit that I feel like a pretty big moron when after working out for an hour+ (2 of every 3 days), that as soon as I'm finished I top it off w/ a protein shake and a couple of American Spirits.

Btw, the $ Saved is good to see as well, it's truly disheartening when you clean out your car and find reciept after reciept after reciept that all say Cigarettes: $5.00. Though I'm down from a pack a day to a pack every three days, that's still $600.00 a year that I'm paying to kill myself. Wow.

From one smoker to another: Congrats! I really don't think that people can concieve how tough this truly is until they've experienced the addiction for themselves. Though being Kings Fans, they probably have a better idea than most.

I recommend Mono! Sore throat soooooo bad smoking was completely out of the question. I live with 3 smokers who probably go through a combined 7 packs a day! Just Don't do it Man.....No Matter What! Good Luck!

Sometimes, when days are really bad, there is nothing for me to do but post my quit meter data to remind me how far I've come. Hopefully, it will continue to keep me going.

I had a particularly bad day at work. People never cease to amaze me. Aaack!! Maybe, one day soon, I'll find employment in Sacramento.

Time as a non-smoker: 3M 1W 2D 10h 43m 12s
Money saved: $447.51
Cigs not smoked: 2983
Life saved: 1W 3D 8h 35m

Sorry your day was so bad, 6th. Continued good luck with your job search.

You have my continued support in your effort to keep from smoking. You're doing great!! Keep it up!

I used those Commit lozenges, they really helped for the first 2 weeks, then I cut them out cold turkey. I've never used the patch, gum, or the inhalers, though. The key is truly truly just being done with cigarettes. If you're not, you won't go through with it.

Congrats to all my fellow non-smokers!!!

Wish Me Luck...

I'm finally ready to quit, and while it's only been 21 hours and 50 minutes, I'm feeling better already- Not so much physically, but mentally. I haven't yet had to take time out of my day to pollute my body. And that feels AMAZING. I met an ex-smoker yesterday under some really unique circumstances, and he just told me that it's not a matter of addiction- But instead a matter of willpower. He said "You have the addiction, but do you have the willpower to stop?"

And somehow, I felt like he was saying that these fricking cigarettes have more control over me than my own mind. NOPE. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

I burned the 10+ smokes that I had left in the pack, and when I put it out, all that remained was this sickening goopy-ashy-black-sticky mess. When I saw that, and I realized that I was putting the filth into my body... Well, let's just say that I Woke Up.

I'm really proud of myself right now, and I'd like to thank you for reading.

Good Luck! I can imagine that it is a hard thing to stop doing but I know you can do it... just look at 6th. Dont only do it for yourself but do it for your family, friends and anyone close to you who you would rather spend time with than smoking. Stay Strong!! :D

Can we get an update from 6th? :)

Thanks, B_I_C! I'll give you an update as soon as I can. I have only had that one smoke since Jan 2nd, so I'm doing really well.

I am using Dillon's computer (he is 12). I got the high speed internet access hooked up, but it is only hard wired to D's computer. I need an Ethernet card (I think), and a wireless router and a receiver to get mine hooked up. Hopefully one day soon.
