[News] Shams Bomb: Magic, Bane are born in the dark. Grizzlies get 4 FRPs, a swap, KCP, and Cole Anthony.

Understandable. Their biggest need for a long time was a PG and yet they splurged for a SG.
they’re kinda in a similar position to the Kings where their big man/Franz is going to be running most of the offense anyways so they don’t really need a floor general. Suggs should be fine for them as their “lead” guard if/when he’s healthy. That’s why they probably still need to make a move for a guard like Sexton/Malik

Zach LaVine’s contract might not be great but if Bane can get this much then I wonder what LaVine can fetch. (LaVine also lowkey a better fit for the Magic than Bane lol)

They know the market on LaVine most likely since he was just traded, but this is obviously a team in love with Bane.

Maybe they are, haha. The difference is they had the assets to make a deal like this because again, the Magic didn't just wipe their butts with picks and young talent like the Kings have over the years. The Magic have plenty of young depth at almost every position. Not to mention the two major building blocks for them are still young and not paid on max deals. Wagner is getting paid but doing these kinds of things before Banchero is makes all the difference. This is the same reason why the Kings doing something like this would be insanity. The Magic have plenty of time, the Kings don't.

Bane can defend three positions and is a 40% three point shooter on 6.3 attempts in his career magic fans wanting Melo or Young over him are casuals wanting a big name

They could get a kings ransom for JJJ

Depends on the contracual circumstances. There's likely a reason we see players like Gobert, Bridges and Bane go for insane packages and most of it has to do with situation. Those teams were looking at the whole, clearly not the player because if they were they suck at their jobs, haha. They saw that as the last piece to the championship puzzle. Now if they're wrong then they'll go down in infamy possibly.

I personally agree with them they can win the east with that roster they started off hot this season when they were healthy with KCP crapting the bed.

the Grizz starting off the offseason and I'm ready for what's to come. Bane is still in his prime and they are looking to win now, I like the trade for both teams. Question now is do the Grizz rebuild by trading Morant or Jaren or both? They can get top value if they don't wait and be ready to compete again in 2 to 3 seasons if they hit on their draft picks.

This trade makes me even more angry with the Fox camp (Rich Paul) handcuffing the Kings in trade negotiations. Damn that’s a lot for Bane

Kings flinched and that was the end result. They could of just sat him like the Heat with Butler with something along the lines of "conducts detrimental to the team" and try again in June, July, August

What’s the use of having assets if you overuse them for a player like Bane?

The Magic just brought themselves to KINGS level by wiping their ****** with those picks in this deal.

No, it’s not a lot. It’s far worse than that. It’s insanity.

That’s a package you pay for Giannis, or some younger superstar talent. Not for a good supporting player like Bane.

Think back to the KINGS glory days. That’s a price you might pay for prime Webber once he’d rehabilitated his name in Sacramento. It’s not a price you pay for Peja Stojakovic or Mike Bibby.

Eh, maybe in a way, the key is they drafted and developed the picks they did have already. They have a ton of youth, the Kings have.... Devin Carter. Which is why it's insane to see his name thrown in any trade as a toss in. No, build him up if the idea is to trade him. The Kings Kangzing is always about going halfway on everything and cutting corners when they don't have a safety net to fall back on if it fails. The Magic weren't dumping picks left and right for space, or dumping young players like Davion to sign a 36 year old veteran when he was the only youngish player they had. The Kings gave it one last go around with Fox, it didn't work, now is the time to be careful, not go further in on the ones left. If the Kings were in the East like the Magic that might be a different story though.

The price for Bane was a major overpay but they still have all their major pieces and a team that projects to have a window of at least being good for the next 4-5 years. The downside is this certainly takes them out of the running for a superstar, but lets be honest, if they need that that means they have trade one of the core young pieces at the top of their rotation. They gave up a young PG in the deal yet still have Suggs, Black, Da Silva, etc. on the back end.

It looks like it a lot more than it is. Giannis would require a highest level young player I would imagine. GM's aren't like back in the day where every deal had to make sense on it's own. Is the team that much better? I agree with your sentiment, most GM's are stupid and playing this like it's 2k these days. Gobert got a stupid package, yet, the Wolves have made it out the other end to some degree. The trick was they still had a superstar to build around and then pivot with in KAT and a young star in Edwards to take the wheel. The Magic do as well. They still have their two young stars and the players they are building around. Bane could definitely help the Magic make it a lot farther in the East next season and for seasons to come. This really only hurts the Magic if they end up needing a Giannis because yeah, now they don't have the tools.

This is why any idea of Perry going all in right now is horrifying. Even the Suns could end up getting out of their mess better than the Kings because they still have a Booker level talent to recoup value. The Kings don't have a single player like that and to get it, they'll have to pull out a Magic level deal or take on someone with questions about their abilities/impact/character.

Seriously. If we’re going to insist on losing in the play-in, JJJ is the perfect compliment to Sabonis. Plays defense. Hangs out on the perimeter throwing threes, doesn’t rebound but it doesn’t even matter because Sabonis rebounds everything anyways.

Keegan is a good rebounder as well
