Change can’t happen soon enough
They said on Sactown that Scott’s mother just passed. He will be away from the team the next several days
I’m pretty sure his assistant GMs are perfectly capable.Vivek going to look after transactions while he is away.
(And condolences)
I'd consider the acquisition of assets (i.e. draft capital, cap space, cash considerations) to be "meaningful"...I really don't envision anything meaningful happening. There just isn't enough demand for the types of players the kings have and the new CBA has totally impacted team building strategies. Yes, maybe likely Keon is traded, but that's not earth shattering and likely to elicit a shrug when we get two second round picks for him.
Exactly my point. I'm not looking for exciting players for our "assets". I want draft capital. Unless you're getting really excited about second round picks (better than nothing.... but most are not going to be excited), but I would be extremely surprised if we see any first round picks coming our way at the deadline.I'd consider the acquisition of assets (i.e. draft capital, cap space, cash considerations) to be "meaningful"...
After the deadline when Westbrook is still with the team, just waive him and bring up Plowden. Someone will pick up Westbrook and we get a look at a young wing. No reason not to do something like this.

Yeah, I wouldn't really know why anyone would want to risk having to deal with Joshy dogging on their team for the next couple of months...Why would anyone pick up Westbrook? He’s the exact same player no one wanted before this season.

Playing the young’s will take care of the tanking. Russ is just stunting their development. let Carter be tank commander if they hate him that much. He's a good tank commander, we should keep him.
Deebo, Domas and Schroeder need to go. Nobody is trading for Zach, but that's fine he's also amazing for ping pongs.

Now would be a good time to start then

Perry has made it clear he isn’t willing to give up valuable assets just to dump veteran contracts. Around the league, teams are tightening their belts to stay in the semi-regular “big star free agency” sweepstakes. It really feels like this season is going to be what it is until the end. Vets getting minutes and nothing more. Christie is going to try and clean up his win loss record that last month for sure.

Trades are two-way streets, something has to give.

Right,Yeah, then Christie has to sacrifice himself and stop trying to gain favor and win with vets that are losing anyway. Having a recent lottery pick giving way to vets that aren't winning is peak Kangz. The value to build is any player on a rookie contract, nowhere else. What are the young guys gonna do? Lose? lol.
I think the minute cap got autocorrected to 30, it should be saying 24 at mostRight,
I get that you don’t want to just arbitrarily slash the vets’ minutes, as they need consistent run to maintain their level of play. It’s unfair to any athlete, especially the HoF-level vets we have, to yank them in and out of the rotation unless the plan is to shut them down entirely and let their contracts rot. Meanwhile, the younger guys, are still in learning mode, so you can live with a lower standard while they work through mistakes and develop.
That said, I do think the vets should be capped at around 30 minutes. From there, you let the rookies close games so they can get comfortable performing under real pressure.
Right,
