Scott Perry is the new GM of Sacramento Kings

I’m just glad they didn’t let this drag on and get to draft season unprepared.

I remember being impressed by Perry at the time. If I recall, he played a big part in developing connections with agents, which helped actually get guys to come do pre draft workouts in Sacramento. Fox actually wanted to come here, which was a big deal. He also made a big point of evaluating character and relationships, both in evaluating draft prospects and leading a front office. I hope he can effectively manage both his team as well as ownership.

that said, I can’t give him credit for Fox but absolve him of the two subsequent whiffs that draft. Hopefully he hires/retains some good scouts.

How the **** can you make a hire within 24 hours I might be done supporting this clown show and what has perry even accomplished why wouldn’t you be throwing money at McConnell from Minnesota

He had ties to the Knicks and was a dream job.

Booth or Griffin would have been 10x worse.
He wasn't great with the Knicks. That's my real issue. The minute he was gone seemed to coincide with them turning it around.

Well at least we're acting decisively. I can't say I like this, guy bolted on us 3 months into the job last time he was here. May as well go after Stan Van Jeremy while we're at it.

This would be a genius move actually. Considering how the rest of his coaching career has gone, maybe we can just fast forward to the players getting fed up and demanding out part of the story before the season even gets started. Save ourselves two years.

Ehhh…. On the one hand, glad we didn’t take a flier on another first time GM that is more likely to get bullied by Vivek. On the other hand, while Perry may be “respected”, he doesn’t necessarily have an amazing track record and so seems a bit of a retread. A lot probably depends on the organizational structure under him. With some of the older GM’s, I worry they go too much for ”feel” in talent evaluation and are more likely one step behind the curve on the next evolution of NBA play.

I do generally contend that for 80% of GM’s, their success or failure is often a result of luck. There are only a handful that probably make a real difference season after season.

Weirdly, a Perry/Monte FO would be a good balance with the relationship builder/manager/negotiator and an analytical talent evaluator. That ship has clearly sailed, though.

You know what? I'm just happy that someone even wanted the job at this point.
agreed, although I hope this was in the works for a while. Otherwise would feel way too rushed of a decision for a guy that isn’t necessarily in hot demand.
