Philadelphia Daily News - John Salmons has made his decision, and it’s Toronto.

Salmons, a 4-year veteran with the 76ers, has agreed to a sign-and-trade that will send him to the Raptors, according to a report published by Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News. He chose Toronto over an opportunity to join the Phoenix Suns .

Salmons, 26, has agreed to the terms of a 5-year contract worth $23 million.

The Sixers will receive a second-round draft choice and a $2 million trade exception.

“John had two great choices and chose Toronto based on a variety of factors,” Salmons’ agent Joel Bell told the Daily News this afternoon. “He wanted to think through all the possibilities before he reached a decision.”

Think that's a bit too much for Salmons, but may just play better with the Raps than 76ers.

I dunno, just none of these guys seem like impact players to me. They're just mediocre/not that good(bad). It's not something that would get me excited if I were a raps fan.

I wouldn't say Salmons is bad from watching the Sixers semi-regularily. He's versatile, doesn't do anything very well, but with his style is a fit for a team like the Raps, and what Colangelo wants to do. Salmons just hasn't gotten consistent oppurtunities in Philly because of AI/Korver/Iguodala playing ahead of him for the last 1 or 2 seasons. I think he will have a larger role with the Raps, especially with that contract.

Also, what do you know about Anthony Parker other than what's been posted about him around lately? He's been away since 2000 over in Europe and has played well over there. Charlie Bell/Jackson/Haslem/Brad Miller have done similar after a bit of time in the NBA then coming back to be solid players at least. Who knows, Raps may of found a nice player.

$23 mil for John Salmons is pretty ridiculous. He may yet develop into some versatile do-everything player ala Boris Diaw, but more likely he simply remains a very very mediocre guy who seemed to help lose the lead whenever he entered the game for Philly last year. That's practically the midlevel for 7.5pts 2.7rebs 2.7ast on 42% shooting, and those are all career HIGHS.
