I think we need a star, this we lack. I mean we have Kevin Martin nice!, but we need a star. would be nice to see the kings draft one in 08'. Mayo, Rose or Beasly. Kevin Martin is a nice piece, but we need a true star for the presure to be off of him. To me Ron Artest and Mike Bibby are VERY good role players.

In Petrie we trust. I am still waiting for the Petrie other gms "Fear",

Kings biggest need is to evaluate what they have and see who climbs up the minutes ladder during training camp. There are no "instant" fixes out there no matter who we trade.

Let's ask this same question in 3-4 weeks. Then it will have more meaning.

If you think our biggest need is a "star," why wasn't that among your choices?

We have stars...Martin/Bibby/Ron/Brad etc...we need a superstar.

A great point guard can make bad team very good. We are a bad team. So if we want to make the most difference in the short term, I think a great point guard would have the greatest impact. This may not be the best foundation for a contending team, but I don't see contending for a championship to be our immediate goal.

Some of our needs just might get filled:

I agree with BritishColumbia on the need to get rid of some guys (KT) and with Ray Z (on the need of) patience because:

creAtivetfh wants a quality PF which we may get in a year or so from JWill, Watkins or Mikki but this year, it won't happen;

and kingsfan916 wants a shot blocker (JWill and Mikki do that) and low post scorer/defender (Mikki, Watkins and JWill do that also). If we get a rejuvinated Brad we get some real experience and a really knowledgeable guy who can pass and set picks and who will be a much better defender this year.

so stick with Ray Z and CruzDude on this, patience and see what our new coach can get the guys to do that is major better than last year.

Agreed, nothing new can be said now except that our quality at the PF is lacking. Things change quickly from season to season. I seem to remember K9 having a good season two seasons ago, then he became worthless. Mikki was a garbage player until he broke out last year. We don't know who will step up and who will step down. Let's wait for 10 games into the season. Then we will be able to spot our weaknesses and then hopefully GP will respond.

Crap, I cant believe training camp is already here on Monday! Just seems like yesterday we were asking for refills on our Prozac from last year under Musselman...

Actually, it would be an arena. The term "stadium" usually refers to an open-air facility used for games like football or soccer.

:)

In terms of rebuilding the Kings are at ground zero. Actually Ground Zero BEFORE you level it. IF the goal is to build a championship caliber team then the game plan is both simple and difficult. You need a franchise type player that is a CLEAR number one option in the offense. The kind of guy that does it all or at least MOST of it. Score, rebound, pass, gets other involved, demads double and evne triple teams, and maybe even defends. Once you have that guy you make trades arround him adressing needs. What you can't do is gather a bunch of role players then wait for the go to guy to land in your lap. And that is EXACTLY where the team in now. A collection of role palyers with no go to guy.

So one more time I will say it... The Kings need to dump contracts, trade away every guy they can with a contract extending past 08. Bring in any old guy they can get with expiring paper. Play the kids as much as possible and try to get that franchise guy either through the draft or with cash. There is no way in hell the Kings ar going to trade Kenny, Reef, Brad, Bibby and Artest for a #1 option guy.

Any other pesronale changes the team makes at this point is simply rearranging the deck charis on the Titanic.

Of course the goal could simply be to win a few games put buts in seats and muddle through. The after I brought in a new coach the fans would recognize, I would trade for the best guy I could get hopeing to move some bad paper in the process. Make a young exciting Kid the face of my franchise and see what happens.

That is what the Kings need. A stadium with retractable dome. That would rule. On a nice day, the Kings could play in open air!

The Kings big need? To improve at PF. But to do that, the Kings will have to move a lot of vets with larger contracts.
