Update: The boss is ailing

Monarchs coach Jenny Boucek will be held at UC Davis Medical Center another night as doctors await tests results

The boss is ailing

Monarchs new coach Jenny Boucek was hospitalized overnight following Monday's training camp after reporting of a pain in her abdomen, prompting concern she might have appendicitis.
Doctors today were assessing Boucek's condition and have ruled that appendicitis is unlikely, team officials said.
As soon as more information is available, I'll share it with you.
Boucek wasn't the only member of the Monarchs to miss today's practice with an illness. Yolanda Griffith missed the first three days of training camp with a stomach flu. She is expected to practice Wednesday.
Practice was run effectively run Tuesday by Monarchs assistant coaches Tom Abatemarco, Monique Ambers and Steve Shuman

Monarchs coach Boucek hospitalized

Monarchs coach Jenny Boucek remained hospitalized Tuesday for a second consecutive night at UC Davis Medical Center for what doctors say could be an inflamed lower intestine, Monarchs general manager John Whisenant said.

Boucek was kept for precautionary reasons and is undergoing further testing, Whisenant said.

Boucek complained of pain in her side Monday following the second day of Monarchs training camp, prompting concerns of appendicitis. Whisenant said doctors have ruled out appendicitis and a viral infection.

Whisenant said he is optimistic that the ailment is minor.

Boucek's mother has joined her at the hospital.

"You always have to be respectful of serious stuff, and that's what they are doing," Whisenant said. "Obviously, it makes you nervous."
Boucek remained lively and was eager to return home, said Whisenant, who was in constant contact with the 33-year-old coach he hired in November to replace him.

Monarchs coach Jenny Boucek was released from UC Davis Medical center today after she was hospitalized two nights with an infection in her intestine, general manager John Whisenant said.

Whisenant said Boucek was released after responding well to antibiotics.
She was hospitalized Monday, complaining of pain in her side following the second day of Monarchs training camp, prompting concerns that she was suffering from appendicitis, something physicians later ruled out.

Boucek returned to her Natomas home and planned to attend Monarchs practice this afternoon.
