SacBee: Bibby has his way with his old team

Oh wonderful.

...In the American Airlines locker room on Tuesday, there was friction and frustration when Artest – according to numerous sources close to the team – took exception to Theus' questioning his players and their desire to push for .500 and the playoffs. Artest went at Theus verbally as he has numerous times before, with the issue being moved to the side a day later when Artest said there should be no doubt of his intentions.

Ron Artest going at Theus verbally as he has numerous times before? Great. Just freaking great.

No doubt of Artest' intentions? Which ones? The one where he said he's going to opt out because he wants to be on a championship team? Or the one where he said he's gonna guarantee the Kings make it to the playoffs? Or perhaps the one where he says he's so glad to be in Sacramento because he feels loved?

This is the final straw for me. Artest needs to opt out or we need to move him for some second round picks or something ASAP. Unfortunately, the trade deadline has passed and because of his option we cannot possibly expect to move him on draft day. What a mess... And the "numerous times before" could well explain the lack of legitimate offers for him before the deadline. The other GMs don't want the problems any more than a lot of us.

I don’t think the message should be about getting to .500 anymore. It should be about respect for ourselves as a team. Theus should make it clear, yeah, we’re not going into the playoffs; yeah it’s disappointing, but what’s even worse is coming on your second/third rode trip and get beat by a team that hasn’t won anything this year. They should be embarrassed by their performance. They should have more pride than that.

I understand that having open communication with your coach is a great thing, but yelling at him and lowering his authority in front of the whole team is wrong (imo). It starts to be contagious and if one player doesn’t respect you I can definitely see other players on your team lowering their respect of the coach. I’m sick and tired of hearing about Ron going at the coach. I can see why he got upset but I don’t like it when I hear that kinda stuff.

Here’s part of a comment from Keystoncop in the comment section.
and I just don't see a TEAM. I see some very talented players at times, but no real team.

We had some sort of team before the return of two player (one is gone while the other is arguing with the coach). There seemed to be chemistry and some sort of passing game that was fun to watch. I know some people like Ron and want to keep him, that’s great, but like Keystoncop said, we have some talented players but no Team. Yeah, Ron is talented but he doesn’t fit. But I could be wrong but that’s my assumption and evaluation from watching the team when he was out.

And if Geoff can get rid of John as well, oh how wonderful that would be. If he can come off the bench and play like a starter then keep him, but I don't think he'll change.
