He isn't spectacular like Jason Williams. He hasn't humbled the Los Angeles Lakers with a leaning, last-second jumper in the playoffs. He doesn't have an entourage. Heck, he didn't even have a job when the season began.
One night he came over to the huddle, and he complained that someone wasn't passing the ball. I said, 'Beno, why the hell are you telling me? You're the point guard. Go tell him.' I think he has a strong enough personality to demand that."
Ron or John. But I’m guessing it’s the first one. Especially since Ron was benched for the whole 4th quarter...I loved how Beno was saying "pass the ball!"
I like that Reggie is giving Beno the nod at taking control of the team. I think we really need a leader. Someone to take control of this team, step up, pass the ball and see the opportunity when it presents itself…I hope we sign him, not for too much but something that’s reasonable. And if we do retain him, I hope he can continue to play like this after his contract year.
Beno is a true point guard. And it's been a LONG time since the Kings had one. I think he's the perfect fit to go forward and start assembling a new team for the future. He works very well with Martin, with Garcia and with Hawes and that gives me a good feeling.
