Sac Bee: Monarchs Take Cover and the Resuls are Stunning

Sounds like a plan 6pm Ma Jongs...15 & L..? Do we need any reservations?
I'm not familar with any of the resturants mentioned, I've heard of Masons.
Any place is cool for me, what ever the group decides. See you all there!

I now can't make it........ :(

I don't think you need reservations for Ma Jongs, but I've never been there for anything but lunch. I don't know if they handle things differently at night - I don't see how they could, but ya never know.

Could someone possibly pick up a couple copies of the magazine and poster for me? If you can't, that's cool. I'll grab a magazine on Saturday.

I concur with the notion that once you are in Ma Jong's, you are in. I am afraid I am not like some of the high roller Kings fans and would want a more reasonably priced dinner.

Aha! Sounds good to me, but I will be later. I'm wearing a Monarchs shirt and I'll look for you guys! Put up a flag or something! Course, by the time I get there, you might not still be at the table...

I may end up going to the drive-in with the boys. Not my favorite thing to do, but alas, it is a family thing. I am wearing my levis today anyway so they may not let me in. Geez, when is the last time anyone had to deal with a dress code? Sheesh!

Thanks NBH.....

I don't know if a Monarchs shirt is considered sports attire/wear or not. So I might suggest going with something to wear over that like a collared button down shirt/blouse. The restaurants are not as picky about it, the lounge portion is.

Did anybody see some of the photos from the shoot during the TV broadcast yesterday? The one they showed of Yo absolutely was indeed stunning.

Yes, the shots during the broadcast were wonderful. I think the brief glimpse I got of Yo was her best photo to date! I really want that poster!

I won't be able to make it. Can someone please ask if the poster will be available for sale later? Thanks folks....I appreciate it!!!:D

I'm not sure of the avalibility of posters or magazines, but if we can take more than one, I'll snag as many as possible! I'll check in later tonight or Sat. am & let you all know how it turned out.

Hello gang...what a fun time at the Launch party...we ate at Ma Jongs & hung out on the patio of the ''Park'' I recognized Andrea Lepore, she is the publisher of the magazine. Stopped to talk with her & congratulate for the awesome cover. She gave us a few copies & thanks us for coming. We sat. around listened to some live music & sampled some great wontons.
I could only snag a few copies, they will be on the stands today at Tower & Borders. Someone I know bought a box of the magazines, so she may be seling some? The photo's are beautiful, & taken at The Park...I'm sure you all will enjoy it very much. There was a nice turn-out for the event & no cover!

Sign me up for one, girl. See you at the game on Sunday.

To any MS&E staff lurking....it would be really nice and really cool if you folks could buy a run of the magazine and sell it in the team store like you did Jerry Reynolds' book.

I hit a Bella Bru and the Fair Oaks Borders and neither of them had it today. Borders staff had no idea when it actually would get there and they did tell me they've been innudated with calls and shoppers looking for it for the last week. I'd hate to think we're in for another Wheaties box road race, but it appears to be the case.

I'm trying to get a hold of my friend who has the box of magazines.
If she can, I asked her to bring some to sale? I could only get my hands on a few & they are taken. Don't worry, soon we'll be able to snag some. If I recall, Andrea said on Monday.

LTE in the Sacbee regarding the magazine cover

One upset Letter To the Sports Editor in today's (Sunday) SacBee, in regards to Yo, Ticha, and Nicole in the recent "Flavor" magazine cover:

http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/story/14276310p-15085721c.html

I did a bit of internet research on this person (Virginia Maulfair), and it would seem to appear that she has been an athlete in the Gay Games in the early 90's. But judging from her letter, she seems to be an uptight prude.

I thought her arguments were actually valid and not at all prudish. They are identical to those expressed against the This is Who I Am Campaign. She was just arguing as if the photo shoot was associated with the league which I thought missed the point.

I agree that we should not be attracting fans because of the looks of the players (like in A League of Their Own), but I do think that part of the point (and why the girls consented) is that there is more to each girl than her basketball skills. They also like looking feminine, and eating their favorite foods and having favorite passtimes and announcing sports and having other part time jobs and playing for other leagues in the off season and working toward advanced degrees. Each girl is more than what she shows on the court (which is awesome!). And they are beautifully done pictures.
